QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION Race Day Stewards Report Aquis Park Thoroughbreds Date: 19 October 2019 Track: Good 4 Weather: Overcast Rail: True Entire Course Stewards Panel: D. Gray (Swab Officials), L. Stokes (Secretary) Race 1 – Attwood Marshall Lawyers Maiden Plate – 1100m Trainer M. Eggleston was fined the sum of $100 for the late declaration of Jockey D. Griffin as the rider on TIACLAIR. THE DARK – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. KIWI SHOWGIRL – Unable to muster speed in the early stages and trailed the field throughout. ENTERTAINER – Checked near the 1000m. ALEXANDRA ROAD – Approaching and passing the 900m tightened onto the running rail and was restrained. Cast its off fore plate in running. DYNAMIC THINKER – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Jockey T. Timbery (ESPANYOL) pleaded guilty to two charges of careless riding under AR131(a) for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1000m when not clear of ENTERTAINER resulting in that gelding having to be checked. Furthermore, ESPANYOL continued to shift in at a point approaching and passing the 900m when not clear of ALEXANDRA ROAD resulting in that horse being tightened onto the running rail and requiring its rider to take hold of his mount. On both charges, Jockey Timbery was suspended from riding in races for a period of 13 days to commence midnight 19/10/19 and to expire midnight 01/11/19 with both penalties to be served concurrently. Race 2 – Attwood Marshall Lawyers QTIS 3yo Maiden Handicap – 1400m ELLYSAY – Jumped very awkwardly and shifted out abruptly resulting in POWERING and BEAUETA being checked. Raced very fiercely in the early stages and hung out despite the efforts of its rider and continued to hang out for a major part of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Stable representative Mr Downs was advised that the horse must compete satisfactorily in a barrier trial prior to racing again. BEAUETA – Checked at the start. Near the 800m, commenced to over-race and had to be restrained from the heels of MAKEUP. POWERING – Checked at the start. Stewards asked Jockey R. Plumb for an explanation regarding the geldings performance. Jockey Plumb explained that after being severely checked at the start, he settled at the rear of the field and the gelding contacted the rail on two occasions passing the 1000m when racing to the inside of BEAUETA. He added that the gelding finished fairly in the home straight but in his opinion the interference at the start had a direct bearing on todays performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. ALL BOOM – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Race 3 – Revelstone Stud Maiden Plate – 1400m The start was delayed when ARIZONA SUN which reared behind the barriers and as a result broke its bridle, galloped a short distance and proved difficult to recapture. Acting on veterinary advice, ARIZONA SUN was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2.18pm. All monies invested on ARIZONA SUN were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 2.18pm:- 12 cents in the dollar for the Win #510 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #510 cents in the dollar the 2nd place #1021 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place #11 Trainer G. Heinrich was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners. DUTCH DELIGHT – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost significant ground. Stable representative Mr Cameron was advised that the horse must compete satisfactorily in a barrier trial prior to racing again. REGAL ROAD – Slow to begin. PRINCE DUPORTH – When questioned regarding the racing manners of the gelding which hung in for a major part of the race, Jockey R. Plumb explained that the horse was difficult to ride today when hanging in and was disappointing in its finishing effort in the home straight. Race 4 – Attwood Marshall Lawyers Class 4 Plate – 1200m CHARWAY – Cast its near hind plate in running. Race 5 – Racinglaw.com.au Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1400m Stewards accepted Trainer G. Booths explanation for the late declaration of Jockey R. Plumb as the rider of CAPTIVATOR. Due to Jockey M. McGuren being delayed at a corresponding meeting at Eagle Farm, he was unable to fulfil his riding engagement on TIVOLI STREET. Jockey McGuren was replaced by Jockey L. Dittman. DRYSDALE SPIRIT – Over-raced during the early stages. I AM THE GENERAL – Cast its near fore plate in running. Race 6 – Attwood Marshall Lawyers Class 1 Handicap – 1800m Stewards accepted Trainer P.H. Duncans explanation for the late declaration of Jockey T. Marshall as the rider of ROULETTE ROYAL. Acting on advice by Trainer T. McCarthy that MAQUINA VOLADORA became fractious when travelling to the course, the mare was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.20pm. ROLLING REIGN – Held up in the early part of the home straight and then had to alter course to the outside of PHANTOM SHADOW. Near the 50m raced in restricted room between BANTEUX and PHANTOM SHADOW which shifted out when placed under pressure. Jockey A. Chau (PHANTOM SHADOW) was cautioned and advised to keep his mounts on a straight course when under pressure in future. Race 7 – Attwood Marshall Lawyers Class 2 Plate – 1300mPORTUGUESE TART – Restrained from a wide barrier to gain a position closer to the rail.
