Race 1: Larry Allen QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1400m
 
ADVERTISING – Began awkwardly.
 
BEAUETA – Shifted out on jumping bumping REBEL SALUTE, which in turn shifted out making heavy contact with EVITA LA VIE, which became unbalanced. Near the 300m shifted in and away from EVITA LA VIE, which shifted in crowding that runner. Trainer T. Thomas was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s suitability to race at metropolitan meetings.
 
REBEL SALUTE – Tightened for room on jumping and shifted out making heavy contact with EVITA LA VIE. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
RUFF IT UP – Shifted out on jumping crowding runners to its outside.
 
EVITA LA VIE – Became unbalanced when bumped heavily on jumping by REBEL SALUTE, which was forced outwards. Shifted in near the 300m crowding BEAUETA.
 
ISABELLA’S SPRING – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
KAAYDEH – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
DIYOSA – App J. Murphy reported on returning to scale that the filly was not comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
 
Race 2: Patron Silver QTIS 2YO Handicap – 1100m
 
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by Jockey M. Cahill as to the reasons why he was dually engaged on both MAYA BAY and WRITTEN BEAUTY in this race. As a result J. Byrne replaced M. Cahill as the rider of WRITTEN BEAUTY.
 
AHRI’S AMORE – Began awkwardly.
 
COUNT THE COIN – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
THE DRINKS CART – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
MAYA BAY – On returning to scale Jockey M. Cahill advised Stewards that in his opinion the colt never felt comfortable on today’s track conditions.
 
 
Race 3: The Great Northern Benchmark 78 Handicap – 2200m
 
SIDETRIP – After being ridden back at its previous start over 1400m connections advised the intention would be to ride the horse in a more forward position if not lead. The horse was ridden accordingly. Bumped near the 400m by ADVANCE WARNING, which shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
CHECKMATE LAD – Slow to begin.
 
DREAM BUILDER – Slow to begin.
 
SPEAKING BAD – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
ADVANCE WARNING – Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 400m bumping SIDETRIP. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
SEENTOOMANY – Forced marginally wider approaching the winning post by ADVANCE WARNING, which shifted out under pressure.
 
GALTERO – Following the race App A. Thompson advised Stewards that in his opinion the gelding failed to handle today’s track conditions.
 
 
Race 4: The McWilliam’s Stolen Colt Quality Handicap – 1400m
 
THE AVENGER – Slow to begin.
 
ALWARD – Laid in rounding the home turn and continued to do so in the home straight.
 
Race 5: Canadian Club Benchmark 80 Handicap – 1400m
 
THE KINGDOM – Commenced to overrace approaching the 1200m and shifted wider and as a result raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. Shifted out near the 250m bumping heavily with GREAT KEPPELL, resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced.
 
GREAT KEPPELL – When the pace slackened leaving the 1200m commenced to overrace and raced three wide from that point onwards. Shifted in near the 250m making contact with THE KINGDOM and became unbalanced. Jockey R. Fradd had his whip accidentally knocked from his grasp by the whip of App A. Thompson (THE KINGDOM) near the 80m.
 
TATCEE – When the pace slackened leaving the 1200m commenced to overrace for a short distance.
 
FOMO – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.  When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance App J. Huxtable stated that FOMO raced keenly in the early stages however came off the bit leaving the 600m and failed to finish the race off.  Trainer M. Currie stated he was disappointed with the gelding’s performance today and advised he would now give consideration to the gelding continuing its racing future within his stable.
 
 
Race 6: Two Suns Premium Stakes Benchmark 75 Handicap – 1200m
 
I DREAM OF GREEN – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the middle stages having to be steadied near the 700m. Shifted out slightly near the 450m momentarily placing TAKE TEA in restricted room. Momentarily held up for clear running near the 400m.
 
MOSCINI – Commenced to overrace near the 1000m and as a result was obliged to race three wide without cover for the majority of the race. Laid in near the 800m crowding TAKE TEA.
 
TAKE TEA – Crowded for room near the 800m. Steadied off heels near the 700m. Momentarily placed in restricted room near the 450m.
 
RAMTASTIC – Restrained off heels near the 800m. Raced in restricted room from the 300m until near the 200m.
 
LE DUDE – Shifted three wide leaving the 800m. Laid in near the 300m having to be corrected.
 
 
Race 7: XXXX Dry Open Handicap – 900m
 
Trainer D. Murphy was fined $200 for the late declaration of App M. Wishart as the rider of ARCHER’S PARADOX.
 
ARCHER’S PARADOX – Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced four wide without cover for the majority of the race.
DIVINE DICE – Shifted out at the start bumping OZARK. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
TISANI TOMSO – Slow to begin.
 
OZARK – Bumped at the start.
 
BOOM CHICKA BOOM – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 8: Absolut Soda And Lime QTIS 3YO Handicap – 900m
 
The start of the race was delayed when BOLD THALIA became fractious in the barriers, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Trainer G. Taylor was advised that a warning would be placed against the filly’s barrier manners.
 
The start of the race was further delayed when NIKOHLI BEAGLE became fractious in the barriers resulting in its rider A. Fancourt injuring her left wrist and as such was declared a late scratching at 4.00 p.m. by order of Stewards. All monies invested on NIKOHLI BEAGLE were ordered to be refunded Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 4.00 p.m.:-
 
1 cent in the dollar for the win #4 (HOWWONDERFULLIFEIS)
1 cent in the dollar for the place of winner #4 (HOWWONDERFULLIFEIS)
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #2 (ICED)
1 cent in the dollar for 3rd place #7 (SAY HAYA)
 
Trainer B. Dais was advised that a warning would be placed against the barrier manners of NIKOHLI BEAGLE.
 
BETTER THINKING – Slow to begin.
 
BOLD EOS – Slow to begin.
 
BLUEY’S READY – Slow to begin.
 
BOLD THALIA – Jumped inwards at the start bumping ICED. Restrained off heels near the 700m and raced ungenerously for a short distance.
 
ICED – Bumped by BOLD THALIA at the start.
 
PATCHES – Jumped outwards at the start bumping MAD IRISH TYCOON. Laid in near the 600m having to be steadied. Raced five wide for the majority of the race.
 
MAD IRISH TYCOON – Bumped at the start by PATCHES, which shifted out. Raced six wide for the majority of the race without cover. Hung out rounding the home turn. Trainer T. Button was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
 
SAY HAYA – Checked near the 700m to avoid the heels of DEVIL’S TEMPTATION, which shifted in and then raced ungenerously for a short distance after.
 
BETTER BE BETTER – Raced wide for the majority of the race and hung out rounding the home turn. Trainer C. Allardyce was advised that a warning would be placed against the filly’s racing manners.
 
DEVIL’S TEMPTATION – Raced four wide for the majority of the race.
 
HOWWONDERFULLIFEIS – Raced three wide for the majority of the race.
 
BETAIMA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MOCKING – Had a tendency to lay out for the majority of the race.
 
App A. Thompson (DEVIL’S TEMPTATION) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 700m when insufficiently clear of SAY HAYA which had to be checked and lose its rightful running. App Thompson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence midnight 31 May 2020 and expire midnight 8 June 2020. Stewards deemed this incident in the low range and App Thompson was advised of his appeal rights.
 
 
Race 9: Gold Edition QTIS 3YO Quality Handicap – 1800m
 
Due to a miscommunication SWING SHIFT was declared a late scratching at 7.40 a.m.
 
CELLARMAID – Slow to begin.
 
MAN OF SINN – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
SO YOU SHOP – Raced wide in the early stages. App B. Nothdurft reported that the gelding failed to handle today’s track conditions and as such he did not place his mount under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer S. O’Dea will be questioned in relation to the gelding’s disappointing performance.
 
Jockey B. Stewart (MISHANI SECRET) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
