QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT GOLD COAST TURF CLUB SATURDAY 17 SEPTEMBER 2022 WEATHER – Cloudy TRACK RATING – Soft 7 downgraded to Heavy 8 at 10.15 amRAIL – True PENETROMETER – 5.35 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D. Watson GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweights/allowances: Race 3 - SHEPPEY (B Thornton) + 1kgRace 8 - RED MONKEY (M Cahill) + ½ kg Race 1: SCI-FLEET HINO QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP 1200METRES YISKA – Weakened badly over the final stages of the race. Post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow post-race recovery. AFFOGATO GIRL - Slow to begin. SOOTHSAYER – Jumped awkwardly. YELLOW BRICK – Raced three wide in the early stages. Race 2: SOUTH COAST RADIOLOGY BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 2200 METRES CALL ME LEGEND – Slow to begin. HEART OF A LION – Laid in under pressure from leaving the 300m. ELLASTRA – Eased down over the final 300m of the race. Jockey R Fradd explained to Stewards that the mare did not handle the conditions of today’s rain affected track and it was up in class today from its most recent start. Race 3: SIMMONS LIVINGSTONE & ASSOCIATES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1700 METRES INDISCREETLY – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out hampering WHISTLE HOFF. BRAZEN BRECCIA – Jockey N Callow replaced R Maloney who was unable to arrive on course by the appointed time due to heavy traffic. Jockey Callow explained the gelding did not handle the conditions of todays track. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have no significant findings. SHEPPEY – Shifted out over the final stages and brushed with LAYLA OF MONACO. LAYLA OF MONACO – Slow to begin. Brushed by SHEPPEY which shifted out over the final stages. WHISTLE HOFF – Hampered by INDISCREETLY which shifted out at the start. Race 4: QUINN FAMILY LAW ONE METRO WIN HANDICAP 1100 METRES NEVER PAID – Near the 1000m shifted in and away from LIZA WITH A ZEE and brushed with LEPREEZY. Near the 900m shifted in of its own accord when not sufficiently clear of LEPREEZY. App Thompson was issued with a reprimand pursuant to AR131(A) and advised to give his fellow riders more room when in similar circumstances. LIZA WITH A ZEE – Shifted in near the 1000m and brushed NEVER PAID. LEPREEZY – Approaching the 900m forced to ease from the heels of NEVER PAID which shifted in and away from LIZA WITH A ZEE. Race 5: CRONIN MILLER LIGITATION OPEN HANDICAP 900 METRES MOSSMAN GORGE – Held up for clear running on the home turn. SUPERARE – Jumped away awkwardly. GLOBAL CITIZEN – Slow away. Race 6: APG WORKFORCE CLASS 3 PLATE 1200 METRES BEAN FOGGY – Raced three wide throughout. MINTO’S PARADISE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the home straight to near the 200m. NOT ANOTHER REIBY – Hampered soon after the start. Rider reported the horse did not handle the conditions of today’s track. SAFEWORK – Held up on the home turn and the early part of the home straight. KINGSCOTE – Bumped at the start. Race 7: COASTAL DEMOLITIONS PINK RIBBON CUP 1200 METRES ME ME LAGARDE – Slow to begin. Jockey R Fradd reported at scale the mare travelled well in the early and middle stages and elected to move forward leaving the 600m but failed to run on in the straight. Jockey Fradd further stated he felt the heavy track was a contributing factor. A post-race Veterinary inspection revealed the mare to have a slow post-race recovery. TARA JASMINE – Fractious in the gates resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced and as a result stood flat footed and lost ground. LEAVE ME SOME – Had to be restrained from the heels of ME ME LAGARDE near the 250m. Jockey R Fradd was found guilty of a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 250m he allowed his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear. The licence of jockey Fradd to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 24/09/2022 and expire midnight 03/10/2022. BETTER GET SET – Inclined to hang in in the early stages of the race and again in the home straight. JUBAI PRIDE – Inclined to lay in in the home straight. Race 8: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 90 HANDICAP 1350 METRES LIGULATE – Tightened for room near the 1000m. HASABRO – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Near the 1000m shifted in slightly resulting in AT WITZ END and LIGULATE being tightened for room. Raced three wide without cover throughout. AT WITZ END – Slow away. Tightened for room near the 1000m. RED MONKEY – App A Thompson stood down on medical advice replaced by M Cahill who was permitted to ride ½ kg over as no other rider available. Slow away. Race 9: QEM LIMITED BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP 1350 METRES BIG BAD BRUCE – Weakened badly in the straight. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow post-race recovery. NISHIKORI – Shifted out leaving the 350m when not fully clear of CARRIBEAN KING resulting in that runner being carried wider on the track. LEMON DUCHESS – Slow away. RATIONS – Slow to begin, lost ground. MISSISSIPPI PRINCE – Raced wide throughout. CARRIBEAN KING – Carried wider leaving the 350m.
