QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT GOLD COAST TURF CLUB GOLD COAST – SATURDAY 10 DECEMBER 2022 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SOFT 5/ GOOD 4 PRIOR TO RACE 1 RAIL –3M 1800M-350M, CUTAWAY APPLIES FROM 350M. PENETROMETER – 4.85 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R Hitchener Stewards – G Goold, D McMahon, B Connell,Clerk of Scales – P ReardonJudge – S McMahon, G Anderson, S MallyonVeterinarian – Dr G CavanaughSwab Attendants – K Kilpatrick , A Challen Starter – K Watson SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT From Doomben 9/12/22 Race 1 HE’S A HOTFOOT (NZ) - Trainer Adam Campton advised that following the disappointing performance the gelding underwent an endoscopic examination that revealed no significant findings, however he may enact a gear change of a tongue tie prior to its next start. GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting- Race 1 – NICOVER – M Butler +1/2kgRace 2 – TELMESOMETHIN’GIRL – J Guthmann-Chester +1kg Race 1: GCTC MEMBERSHIP JOIN NOW Maiden Handicap 900 metres SUBSTITUTION – Due to the noticeable betting drift, was examined by the veterinary surgeon upon arrival at the barriers and passed suitable to race. Held up rounding the home turn. Following the event stewards questioned trainer T Lambourn who advised that the gelding since arriving at his stable had worked well and in addition had trialled well in preparation for todays event. He added that for this reason he was surprised by the market drift as he had expected a forward showing from the gelding today. He did however note that the gelding was resuming from an extended spell and was also required carry a large weight impost in todays event which may have been the explanation for the horse being opposed in the market. Stewards noted the explanation. EARLY CHOICE – As the mare had not raced in a period exceeding 12months, was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the event and passed suitable to race. Began awkwardly. Made the crossing near the 700m awkwardly. Apprentice I Rabjones was reprimanded for using her whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii). FULL FIELD – When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, jockey R Fradd advised that after racing in a forward position, the gelding had a tendency to hang in under pressure in the home straight and also raced greenly, however beyond this he was unable to explain the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. WAR TOO ALL – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion to the off hind leg consistent with having been galloped on. NICOVER – Made the crossing near the 700m awkwardly. Shifted out abruptly when placed under pressure near the 200m. SERIGALA – As jockey A Spinks was to be overweight, he was replaced as the rider of the filly by N Tomizawa. Jockey A Spinks was reprimanded. In considering penalty, stewards were mindful of the mitigating circumstances which led to jockey Spinks being overweight. CONSECRATED – Jumped in the air at the start and was then tightened for room. MISS TEFE – Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels rounding the home turn. TAMSIN – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Jockey M Cox was fined $200 for returning to scale in excess of 0.5kg overweight. AR211(1). In assessing penalty, stewards were mindful of jockey Cox’s prior good record in relation to this rule. Race 2: FILLIES ON TRACK QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 900 metres GODDESS OF PEACE – Declared a late scratching at 7:53am acting on veterinary advice. The start was delayed as upon presentation to the enclosure, it was identified that ENTERPRISE PHEONIX and ENTERPRISE LASSIE, which were both trained by John Shelton, had been presented with the incorrect saddles. Subsequently trainer J Shelton pleaded guilty to a charge under AR227(a) in that his negligence led to a breach of AR106(1) which requires trainers to correctly saddle their runners. Mr Shelton was fined $500. LESOTHO DIAMOND – After rearing over behind the barriers, was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice at 12:57pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on LESOTHO DIAMOND be refunded with the following deductions to apply- 1st – 8c the win, 8c the place2nd – 7c the place3rd – 14c the place Trainer T Button was advised that the filly would be required to officially barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to next racing. BOSS BANDIT – Began awkwardly. On pulling up, jockey L Allen was dislodged. Jockey Allen was examined by the ambulance officials and cleared to fulfill her remaining engagements. GOLDEELUCK – Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels rounding the home turn. Forced wider by another runner in the early stages of the home straight. ANCIENT MISSION – Forced wider by another runner in the early stages of the home straight. CAPITEEL – Forced wider by another runner in the early stages of the home straight. NEVER BEEN BETTER – Made the crossing near the 700m awkwardly. Race 3: AUCTION EXCHANGE CHUCK NORRIS Maiden Handicap 1700 metres ENUNCIATION – Began awkwardly. EASILY AMUSED – Raced greenly in the home straight. BAGUIO – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Hung out rounding the home turn. Jockey L Allen could offer no tangible explanation for the below market expectation performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor-post race recovery. CRYSTALLIZATIO – Began awkwardly. GLENEAGLE MISSILE – Raced wide without cover from the 800m. Race 4: DR UMED COSMETICS Class 3 Handicap 1700 metres LOOKS LIKE – After being caught wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader approaching the 1300m. Jockey A Allen could offer no tangible explanation for the below market expectation performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. MAURICENTLY – As the mare cast a hind plate which was unable to be refitted, stewards exceeded to a request from trainer K Lees to have the other hind plate removed and therefore the mare raced bare behind. Began awkwardly. VANDANGLE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. MILKA – After being fractious in the barriers, was slow to begin and as a result settled further back than anticipated. Race 5: CSR GYPROCK Class 5 Handicap 1100 metres SIESTA KEY – Trainer J Bellamy was fined $200 for the late rider notification. LR67(1). A pre-race blood sample was taken for analysis. Further trainer J Bellamy was directed that the mare would be required to remain on course until following race 8 for an additional blood sample to be collected from the mare. AVOLONTE – Held up rounding the home turn. PALAZZO SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Race 6: PLATINUM FINANCE 360 Class 3 Plate 1350 metres Due to a member of the public requiring medical attention from the ambulance officials, the remaining races were put back a race with the last race to be run at 5:20pm. PERNELL – Hung out rounding the home turn. CHARGE ON – Began awkwardly. Jockey E Chaves was reminded of his obligations in relation to using his whip arm in an action that raises it above shoulder height. Race 7: BENNINGTON LUXURY PERFORMANCE BOATS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1700 metres AVENUE OF STARS – Jockey L Dittman reported that in his opinion the gelding was not suited by the good 4 racing surface and further the large weight impost resulted in the gelding racing somewhat flat in today’s event. WARCAN – Jockey A Allen was reprimanded for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii). RONLEE GAL – After beginning well, raced keenly in the early stages and as a result settled further forward than anticipated. SIBYLLA – Slow to begin. RAHAAN – Cast its near hind plate in running. Race 8: BUILDING RECTIFICATION SERVICE BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1100 metres MYSTERIOUS ART – Declared a late scratching at 3:20pm by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice. CRACKING THUNDER – Began awkwardly. JUNGLE BLAZE – Slow to begin. Jockey A Spinks was reprimanded for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii).
