FINE TRACK: SAND.RACINGRACE 1 CLASS 6 HCP.1194 METRES - (6 STARTERS): No racing incidents to report.RACE 2 CLASS 4 HCP. 1000 METRES - (7 STARTERS): When questioned regarding the performance of HAZY JET jockey W. Tomsett stated that after initially blundering at the start the mare commenced to resent the sand being thrown back. He further added that after electing to shift wider on the track HAZY JET responded to his riding on the firmer section of the track and as a result raced wide around the home turn. Stewards noted these explanations. A post race vet examination of HAZY JET failed to reveal any abnormality.RACE 3 MAIDEN HCP. 850 METRES - (4 STARTERS): No racing incidents.RACE 4 CUP OPEN HCP. 1740 METRES - (8 STARTERS): NEARTIST was slow to begin.Shortly after the start ROSE OF ARAWATTA veered out abruptly. RACE 5 NEWMARKET OPEN HCP. 1194 METRES – (6 STARTERS): Approaching the 1100 metres LOKIE’S COURAGE and SIR RUPERT came together.RACE 6 CLASS 2 HCP 1000 METRES – (8 STARTERS): SHOOTING THE TUBE which was difficult to load and lashed out behind the barriers on several occasions was withdrawn on veterinary advice at 4.18pm after the mare had sustained an injury to the near hind fetlock. Stewards ordered deductions of 11c in the win and 11c in the place for all successful bets placed prior to 4.18pm. Trainer Bill Bennett was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of SHOOTING THE TUBE.BOOKMAKERS: 4 bookmakers fielded at the race meeting.SWABBING: All winners were swabbed and the samples obtained were forwarded to the Racing Science Centre for routine analysis.
