Race 1: WILLIAMS GRADER HIRE CL B HANDICAP – 850M

CHINCHINBILLA – Underwent a prerace veterinary examination after not starting in twelve months and passed fit to start. Raced wide throughout.

CHEVY – Upon inspection was found to be a gelding. B Johnson was reprimanded under AR102(a) for failing to notify the horse had been gelded.

WINNINGTON – Raced wide throughout.

BAGGER NEMO – Stewards acceded to a request from Trainer A Clark to allow the gelding to race in blinkers. Slow to begin. Laid in over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have blood present in one nostril. As this was due to external trauma sustained in the barriers, Trainer A Clark was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the geldings’ next start and no further action was taken.


SENKO SIDRA –In the vicinity of the 800m, had to be checked when BONNY’S TREASURE shifted in slightly and BETTYGEE(NZ) shifted out slightly. Riders K Gates and apprentice E Smith were both advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. Hung in over the concluding stages.

BAUHINIA DRUM – Raced wide throughout.

RAINBOW SPARKLES – Rider M Milford pleaded guilty to a charge under AR210(1) after failing to weigh in when required to do so and was fined $100 as a result.

BONNY’S TREASURE – Rider E Smith reported that her mount resented the kickback and failed to travel at any stage. Trainer K Miller added that he would now refrain from racing at this venue with the filly.

Race 2: SUMMER SIZZLER BM65 HCP – 850M

BOOT SHAKER – Rider A Butler reported on scale that his mount bounded on a number of occasions in the back straight. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

BEL SELEVA – Hampered on jumping. In the vicinity of the 400m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of the weakening TRUE MYTH.

ARARRAC – Jumped away awkwardly shifted out abruptly contacting BEL SELEVA who was taken out on ABSOLUTE BONZA.

ABSOLUTE BONZA – Hampered on jumping.

TRUE MYTH – Rider D Graham reported her mount stumbled on jumping away and never felt comfortable at any stage of the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 3: TONY ‘BARCOO’ REYNOLDS MDN PLT – 1000M

BRAHMINY – Checked shortly after jumping when KARTANUP shifted in and SENTEIN shifted out. Taken wide in the back straight to avoid the kickback.

KARTANUP – Underwent a prerace veterinary examination after not starting in twelve months and passed fit to start. Shifted in on jumping. Rider H Phillips plead guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she struck her mount more than 5 times prior to the 100m and was fined $300. In determining penalty, stewards took into account jockey Phillips’ poor recent record.

SENTEIN – Shifted out on jumping. Rider K Gates plead guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m, with three of those being consecutive, and was fined $200. She was further issued with a reprimand under AR132(7)(a)(i).

Race 4: BRIAN IBBOTSON BM55 HCP – 1194M

DELAGO EDITION – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

ARTHUR POINT (NZ) – Eased off the heels of TRICADNA rounding the home turn when that runner shifted in slightly.

AXIS – Blundered when entering the course proper in the vicinity of the 1100m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

BLINKIN DUSTY – Rider D Graham reported that her mount resented the kickback and failed to travel throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

DIA VERNON – Slow into stride and raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

LUCIFER’S ANGEL – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride as a result. Raced wide throughout.

Race 5: ON THE BIT BM50 HCP – 1517M

KALANGADOO CHROME – Stood flat footed as the start was affected and lost ground (5L) as a result. Trainer P Pengelly was advised the gelding must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start.

CENTAUR – Blundered badly on jumping.

PRUNDA – Rider K Gates reported her mount failed to handle the track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

KIA ORA CHOICE – Blundered on jumping and as a result was slow into stride. Trainer K Miller reported the gelding would now be leaving his stable.

CHERMSIDE MISS – Raced keenly throughout.

AHMAH STAR – Rider G Goomany pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m and was reprimanded as a result. In determining penalty, stewards took into account his good record.

AUSSIE TYCOON – Jumped awkwardly.
