Race 1: BARNES ELECTRICAL RATINGS BAND 0 – 60 HANDICAP 850M
 
CRUISE POWER – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination as it was the geldings first start in over twelve months and was passed fit to start. As there was no other rider available, Jockey R Oakford was given permission to ride 1kg overweight. Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride.
 
EXOCET ROCKET – Jumped away awkwardly, shifted out abruptly contacting GENG.
 
GENG – Hampered on jumping away.
 
HARRY ROCKET – As there was no other rider available, Jockey T Bannon was given permission to ride 3kg overweight. Jumped away awkwardly.
 
POETIC DRAGON – Raced wide throughout.
 
KOBY’S STRATEGY – Knuckled on jumping away. When questioned regarding the geldings performance, Jockey N Summers stated that after jumping away awkwardly her mount was under pressure in the early stages and failed to respond to her riding throughout the event.

 
 
Race 2: JONES COMMUNICATIONS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
 
BRAHMINY – As there was no other rider available, Jockey R Oakford was given permission to ride 2kg overweight. Slow to begin.
 
CHLOE KINKY TOES – Passing the 900m had to be restrained after racing in restricted room between MAJIANG and HE’Z TITILLATING.
 
NERINA – Was a late scratching at 1.55pm after refusing to load. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on NERINA be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 1:55pm:
 
27 cents in the dollar for the win #1
19 cents in the dollar for place of winner #1
25 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #3
25 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #10
 
Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that NERINA would be required to gain a further barrier certificate prior to accepting for a future race.
 
 
FAIRYBOWER FLYER – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid under pressure in the straight.
 
 
 
Race 3: BUTLER FABRICATINS CLASS B HANDICAP 1000M
 
ISIS BRUMBY – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
SUPER LEON (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider reported that his mount began to weaken noticeably from the vicinity of the 400m after he felt his mount was galloped on. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
MYZABOOM – As there was no other rider available, Jockey T Bannon was given permission to ride 2kg overweight. Raced wide throughout.
 
PERFECT SAGA – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow as a result. Approaching the 400m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of SUPER LEON (NZ). Shortly thereafter was held up for clear running for a number of strides until entering the home straight.
 
 
Race 4: “CLARO TURNS 50” QTIS OPEN HANDICAP 1194M
 
DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE – Raced wide in the early stages and was ridden forward to take up a position in the lead approaching the 800m. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
AL’S BRIEFS – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
BEST GUESS – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide in the early and middle stages and was ridden to cross and settle outside the lead near the 800m. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
TALES OF EPSILON – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 5: UNSUITED REAL ESTATE RATINGS BAND 0 -55 HANDICAP 1517M
 
TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ) – Raced wide without.
 
IDALIA’S DREAM – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
RELIABLE LASS (NZ) – When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey C Small stated that the mare travelled well in the early and middle stages but when placed under pressure from the vicinity of the 500m failed to respond to his riding and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. He added that the mare felt sound but may have not been suited to the fast early tempo.
