RAIL – True

OFFICIALS

Chair of Stewards – S. Stehbens
Stewards – S. Larkins

SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

GENERAL

The following rider changes were approved by stewards as apprentice B Moffat was unable to attend today’s meeting due to an injury suffered the previous day:
Race 1 – WE GIRLS – app J Devine
Race 3 – LITTLE MISS BELLE – A Spinks (no apprentice available)
Race 4 – JAMESITELLI – app H Saunders
Race 5 – LIECA BITA FUN – app J Devine

Race 1: CHRIS TREVOR & ASSOCIATES Maiden Plate (850m)

MY PEPPERJACK – Slow to begin. Apprentice J Busuttin reported that her mount jumped a water mark on the track near the 500m.

QUEEN NINA (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Jockey H Phillips reported that her mount jumped a water mark on the track near the 250m.

WE GIRLS – Began awkwardly.

GIVE ME A MISSION – Slow to begin, soon after the start shied away from the inside runner. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to hang in down the home straight.

Race 2: MICK VENZ LOCKSMITH BENCHMARK 45 Handicap (1194m)

SOFTEN IT UP – Was declared a late scratching at 8:15am due to no available rider.

KING ALE – When questioned on the gelding’s performance apprentice P Carter advised that her mount raced flat and when asked to give an effort KING ALE did not respond. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer F Smith was questioned on the performance of the gelding and advised that the gelding is at the end of his preparation and is going to be spelled.

JELLISHOT – Raced wide throughout.

BEAN THERE TOO – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Raced wide in the early stages.

CHALKEY – Raced wide in the early stages.

I’M FAMOUS – Was declared a late scratching at 7:55am due to no available rider.

LIPSTICK LIES – Bounded on jumping and as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

Race 3: BUTLER FABRICATIONS QTIS Class 2 Handicap (1000m)

EXTREMAARTY – Slow into stride.

VADABOOM (NZ) – Over raced in the middle stages.

INREADYNESS – Slow into stride. Raced wide in the early and concluding stages.

POCKET SAGE – Raced wide throughout.

COCO ROYALE – When jockey T Chambers was questioned on the performance of the mare, she reported that COCO ROYALE was disappointing and would benefit further distance where able to obtain some respite.

LOVE MY LOUIS – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Apprentice P Carter was fined $100 under AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim her full allowance. When considering penalty stewards considered Miss Carter’s relatively poor record within the last three months which revealed three reprimands.

Race 4: BRAD NOY TREE SERVICES OPEN Plate (1000m)

The running of this race was delayed due to SHEER ELEGANCE escaping the strapper in the race day stalls area.

JAMESATTLLI – Slow into stride and raced wide in the early and middle stages.

MEDIA EMPIRE – Raced wide in the middle and concluding stages.

WHERE’S TEKAY NOW – Jockey H Phillips reported that the gelding resented the kickback and did not appreciate the track surface.

SHEER ELEGANCE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to race. Raced wide throughout.

Race 5: COX PLATE RACEDAY 26TH OCTOBER BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1517m)

GRAND DE LAGO – When questioned in relation to racing wide throughout apprentice H Saunders advised in the early and middle stages, she was aware of FLAMENCO ROSE front legs in close proximity to her mount on the inside, so she elected to remain wide and not attempt to cross that runner. When questioned in relation to AWESOME SPIRIT obtaining a run between her own mount and FLAMENCO ROSE leaving the 500m, apprentice H Saunders stated that she felt in hindsight she could have ridden tighter than what she did as to not avail AWESOME SPIRIT a run to her inside. Stewards elected to take no further action other than to speak advisedly to Miss Saunders given her lack of race riding experience.

LEICA BITA FUN – Resaddled behind the barriers prior to the running of this race. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

FLAMENCO ROSE – Began awkwardly.
