SOME SUNNYDAY – Raced keenly in the early stages and had to be continually steadied off heels.

LADY DRUMMER – Raced wide without cover throughout.

Race 2: CMS Stainless Solutions Class B Handicap 1100 metres:
1st – BEYOND LIMITS           2nd – CRAIGLEA ALDI           3rd – CASINO ESCAPEE        4th – SECOND TIME AROUND

TERRASAURAS – Shifted in at the start bumping another runner. Raced wide without cover through the early stages.

DEVASTATING RHYTHM – Bumped at the start. Jockey P Cullen reported his mount failed to handle the tight turning track.

EILEEN ANNIE – Shifted out abruptly at the start crowding the outside runners. Stewards spoke with Apprentice A Thomson in regards to her riding of the mare, in particular her tactics adopted over the concluding stages. After entering the home straight Apprentice Thomson attempted to improve into a doubtful run to the inside of SECOND TIME AROUND (Jockey S Wilson) and continued to persist in gaining this run when there was opportunity to shift to the outside of SECOND TIME AROUND where Apprentice Thomson would have had clear running to the finish. Apprentice Thomson concurred with Stewards that shifting to the outside would have been the better option.

SECOND TIME AROUND – Crowded shortly after the start.

PUB THUG – Crowded shortly after the start.

MAN OF BUSINESS – Raced wide without cover throughout.

CASINO ESCAPEE – Raced wide without cover throughout.

TIERES ROCK – Jockey P Cullen reported the gelding hung in from the 600 metres.

Race 4: Gilvear Planning Benchmark 60 Handicap 1360 metres:
1st – CARLSON’S FELT         2nd – FRENCH AMOUR         3rd – OUR SINGLE DOUBT    4th – I AM BRUSE

MARLAIS – Jumped inward as the start was effected and was slow into stride.

FOREST WAY – Heavily bumped at the start. Made the first turn near the 1500 metres awkwardly and over raced for a short distance thereafter.

IDLE SITUATION – Rounding the first turn near the 1500 metres had to be steadied when another runner was attempting to cross. Again had to be steadied near the 600 metres when another runner marginally shifted ground.

KAMARAH – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Stable Representative Mr P Rowe advised Stewards the gelding had bled from both nostrils following the running of this event. Mr Rowe stated the gelding would be immediately retired from racing. Notwithstanding this advice Mr Rowe was advised that under AR53A the gelding shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres in the presence of a Steward.

BO ROSSA – Began very awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with another runner. Made the first turn near the 1500 metres awkwardly. Jockey N Yadi pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that near the 200 metres he shifted his mount from a position on the fence to being approximately four horses off the fence and directly into the running of ROCHALLOR resulting in Jockey J Lambie having to restrain ROCHALLOR to avoid the heels of BO ROSSA and losing it’s rightful running. Under the provisions of AR137(a), Jockey Yadi had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence midnight 8th October 2016 and to expire on 21st of October 2016 (13 days). In assessing penalty the Stewards were of the view that the degree of carelessness was significant. Stewards took into account his guilty plea, forthright evidence and good record and the penalty was mitigated accordingly.
