RACE 1: BENCHMARK 50 HDCP 850 Metres

TIME TO SPARE – Rider P Romeo reported at scale the mare struggled today under the 62.5kg impost and 3 weeks between runs, and in his opinion would derive benefit from todays race.

LEAPS AND BOUNDS – slow to begin.

CRAIGLEA MISSION – App C Jokic was dislodged on pulling up, examined by QAS medical staff and cleared to her fulfil remaining engagements.

MISS ALEXANDRA – raced wide throughout.

MAMBO MISS – tightened at the start between runners and lost ground.


RACE 2: MAIDEN PLATE 1170 Metres

MANGO TANGO – checked near 800 metres.

DAUNTING SHOW – which was having its first race start, raced greenly and shifted out near 1000 metres hampering THE PAST. A short distance later commenced to hang out resulting in MISS TANGO being checked near the 900 metres. Raced greenly between runners approaching the 400 metres and lost ground. A post race vet examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer C Kilshaw was advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of DAUNTING SHOW.

THE PAST – hampered near the 1000 metres.

ALEMANNA – raced in restricted room for a short distance near 900 metres.

EFFECTIVE ASSASSIN – when questioned regarding below market performance App M Cox stated after electing to race wide in the early stages of the event to avoid the sand kickback, from the 400 metres the filly did not respond to her riding and was disappointing. A post race vet examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 3: RATINGS 0-45 HDCP 1170 Metres

DAM FLASH – stewards in the presence of trainer T Miller and jockey advocate Mr G Smith questioned App M Savva over tactics adopted between the 800 metres and the 400 metres of the event. App Savva stated after obtaining a position behind the leader DAM FLASH appeared to drop the bit and drifted back through the field before responding to pressure near the 400 metres from which point the gelding found the line well. After viewing the DVD replay and hearing submissions from Mr Miller and Mr Smith stewards advised App Savva she had erred in not making greater effort in maintaining a position behind the leader between the 800 metres and the 400 metres. After taking into account M Savva’s relative inexperience stewards took the matter no further other than to advise her ride would be referred to the Racing Qld Training department.
YARRANDI – raced wide for majority of the event.
INFINITE MISS – stood flat footed at the start and lost significant ground. Trainer D Gardiner advised it would be his intention to retire the mare, however he was advised INFINITE MISS would be required to trial should these circumstances change.

RACE 4: CLASS 3 PLATE 1030 Metres
JAI’S LUCK –began awkwardly resulting in App M Savva losing the near side iron until regaining use approaching the hometurn. It was also noted the saddle shifted on JAI’S LUCK placing her at a disadvantage for the entire race.

MAURADING’S GIRL – blundered on jumping away.


RACE 5: BENCHMARK 65 HDCP 1470 Metres

UNIQUE FUSE – raced wide in the early stages of the event.

WINDFLEET – checked shortly after the start. Raced wide from the 1200 metres until near the 600 metres.

PICTURE IT – App M Savva reported at scale in her opinion the gelding did not appreciate the sand surface. A post race Vet examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

GAS BURNER – raced wide during early and middle stages of the event.

SPECIAL ROSE – after beginning awkwardly, shifted in and checked WINDFLEET. When questioned regarding below market performance, rider A Best stated the mare never travelled at any stage of the event and was disappointing. Trainer B Smith indicated he would be recommending SPECIAL ROSE be retired, however stewards advised the mare would be required to trial should these circumstances change. A post race Vet examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
