RACE 1: CLASS B HDCP 850 Metres

Correct weight was delayed to initially allow L Londregan, rider of PLAIN TRUTH to view the start, and further to allow I Coombes, rider of 4th placegetter IN TAIWAN to view the photo finish image. After viewing the head on replay, Stewards found that the barrier of PLAIN TRUTH was marginally slow to open, however did not affect the finishing position of the mare, and after viewing the photo finish image, correct weight was then declared on the judges placings.

SAURIMO – dislodged rider during preliminary, examined by club Vet and cleared to start. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

JERALY – as had not started in over 18 months, underwent pre-race vet examination and passed fit to start. Shifted out shortly after the start hampering another runner.

PLAIN TRUTH – barrier marginally slow to open. Hampered shortly after the start when another runner shifted out. Commenced to race race ungenerously leaving the 600 metres when resenting the sand kickback.

RECOLETA – when questioned regarding poor performance App A Van Der Sanden stated the mare was under pressure to maintain a forward position in the early stages of the event, and overall was most disappointing. Trainer M Mair indicated it was his intention to retire the mare, however was advised should these circumstances change RECOLETA would be required to trial before racing again.

THAT PRETTY GIRL – raced wide throughout.



RACE 2: MAIDEN PLATE 1030 Metres

HONEY BABE – a short distance after the start raced in restricted room and was then reluctant to hold its position between runners.

JET OUT OF HERE – a post race Vet examination revealed lameness in the off hind leg. Trainer B Ahrens was advised JET OUT OF HERE would require a Vet certificate prior to its next race start.

MOOLAMOON – app A Van Der Sanden reported at scale the mare had a tendency to hang out at various stages of the event.

OUR FELICE – declared a late scratching at 11:45 am due to transport breakdown.

BEST FOR LAST – slow to begin and raced wide for the majority of the event.



RACE 3: BENCHMARK 60 HDCP 1170 Metres

GLENTHORN AVENUE – bumped shortly after the start when another runner shifted out. When questioned regarding the below market performance, app C Bayliss stated from the wide barrier, was unable to go the fast early pace, and this coupled with the 66kg weight impost had an effect on the overall performance. A post race Vet examination revealed no abnormality.

SHOULDA TO SHOULDA – bumped shortly after the start when another runner shifted out. Raced wide throughout. App A Spinks was reprimanded for returning to scale 0.1 kg under his allocated weight, and acting under the provisions of AR143(a) correct weight was declared.

HALLE CAT – shortly after the start shifted out bumping heavily with runners to the outside. Rider P Romeo was advised to exercise more care.


RACE 4: BENCHMARK 55 HDCP 1470 Metres

SPIRIT AND GRACE – rider reported at scale commenced to hang out rounding the first turn and continued to do so until near the 1100 metres. Following the event trainer M Mair reported SPIRIT AND GRACE had displaced its tongue tie during the race.

ISIS SPINNER – slow to begin.

SHOCKWAVE – when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, app A Spinks stated that after being crossed by runners near the 800 metres, the gelding resented the sand kick back and failed to respond to his riding from that point.

TUMBLING AL – raced wide in the early and middle stages. At scale rider A Taylor reported the gelding did not appreciate today’s sand conditions.

GALAXY QUEST – B Cornel was permitted to ride the gelding 1 kg over its allocated weight as no other rider was available.


RACE 5: OPEN CUP 1600 Metres

WALK TO THE BAR – raced wide in the early and middle stages. Following the event rider A Taylor reported in her opinion the gelding was not suited by the sand track conditions.

TAMPERE – when questioned regarding below market performance rider I Coombes stated the horse never travelled at any stage of the event and in his opinion failed to handle the sand track conditions.

GAS BURNER – kicked out behind with both hind legs as the barriers opened and lost ground.

LEGAZPI – slow to begin.
