Stewards questioned trainer Mr. S Barr regarding the improved performance of Endless Puzzle. Mr Barr stated that he had recently taken over as trainer of Endless Puzzle and today was its fourth run for his stable. Mr. Barr added that at its most recent start at Toowoomba, the distance was not suitable and he was disappointed with the ride. Mr Barr also stated that at its previous start at Kumbia, Endless Puzzle was not able to work into the race due to the fast tempo of the event. He also added that today was its first run on a sand track, which he thought it might appreciate. When questioned regarding the preferred racing pattern of Endless Puzzle, Mr. Barr advised that where possible it was best suited racing on the speed but in recent starts this had not been possible. Mr. Barr advised that it was his preferred option to restrict Endless Puzzle to sand tracks where possible. Stewards noted the explanation.
