Race 1 – Mayor Mick Curran Benchmark 55 Handicap 850m
NEED FINANCE – Began awkwardly.
 
STORM ANCHOR – Had to be steadied from the heels of ON A COMET when laying out approaching the 800m and lost ground.
 
TENOR LASS –  After being well, was slow to muster early speed and appeared to resent the kickback when trailing the field. Jockey S.Lacy reported that in her opinion the mare  failed to respond to her riding in the early stages, however when shifted wider on the track, it found better going and improved into the race from that stage.
 
STAR PAINTER – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
FIRST BID – Shortly after the start shifted out abruptly and raced wide on the track for the remainder of the race.
 
MY HAPPY PLACE – Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority.
 
Race 2 – Mary Valley Timbers Class B Handicap 1170m
Due to no other rider being available, Stewards allowed apprentice G.Hayes to ride his mount TRIPLE WON at 0.5kg over the minimum weight.
 
MAY I SAY – Jumped awkwardly and  made contact with SEE FOR YOURSELF.
 
SEE FOR YOURSELF – Hampered on jumping.
 
MISS LITERATI – Tightened between runners shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
SEVEN BELOW – Raced wide throughout.
 
SICK’EM REX – Jumped awkwardly and slow into stride. Raced wide.
 
KENTFORD – Blundered on jumping. Shortly after the start was bumped heavily by SICK EM REX and lost ground. Raced wide throughout and was inclined to lay in down the straight.
 
SUCCINITE – Raced wide throughout.
 
YOUL BEATEM – Jockey M.Crawford reported that in his opinion the gelding resented the sand kickback and failed to respond to his riding during the race. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 3 – Join The 100 Club Maiden Plate 1030m
After the running of Race 2, jockey A.Best was examined by QAS on course and was subsequently stood down from his remaining rides. Rider replacements were made as per the Stewards summary.
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey R. Faehr the rider of the second place past the winning post to review the patrol footage to ascertain whether there were grounds for an objection. After viewing the patrol footage, he elected not to proceed and subsequently Stewards declared correct weight on the judges placings.
 
COUNT CLANG – Approaching the 850m had to steady from heels and shifted wider on the track when being crossed by TWOKATS at that point of the race. Apprentice H.English was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground in similar situations.
 
TWOKATS – Raced greenly throughout.
 
WICKED GIRL – Reared slightly as the start was effected. Tightened for room by runners and lost ground shortly after the start.
 
MOSSAMEANIE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in tightening the runner to its inside. Raced wide throughout.
 
BROTHER OATEL – Raced wide throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn and shifted out making contact with MR FUJI on a number of occasions. 
 
MR FUJI – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4 – Dennis W Neal Memorial Benchmark 65 Handicap 1030m
LIL RUBY ROSE – Raced wide throughout.
 
PEARL’S LAD – Began awkwardly.
 
MAHRATTA – Slow into stride.
 
MASTER DENRHO – Approaching the 850m shifted out when improving onto the heels of LIL RUBY ROSE. Raced wide throughout.
BIG SHAKA – Raced wide throughout. Underwent a veterinary examination post-race which revealed that the gelding had suffered a bleeding attack from both nostrils. Stewards acting under rule AR.79(4)(b) advised Trainer D.Gardiner was advised that the gelding would not be permitted to start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward.
 
Race 5 – Diggers Cup In Memory Of Ashley Birt Benchmark 60 Handicap 1470m
MOSS GO NOW – Began awkwardly.
 
QUEENS CONSORT – Blundered on jumping. Approaching the 1100m raced greenly and inconvenienced a runner to its outside.
 
SHINNECOCK – Slow into stride. When approaching the 900m commenced to race keenly and shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of PRINCE FLINDERS, making heavy contact with FLINDERS DRAGON who became momentarily unbalanced and was shifted wider on the track as a result. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Apprentice L.Dillon was issued a reprimand for failing to make a sufficient attempt to keep her mount straight at that point of the race.
 
KALANGADOO CHROME – Laid back in the gates as the start was effected and was slow to began and subsequently lost ground.
 
RED HEAVY – Hampered at the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
FLINDERS DRAGON – Shifted in at the start and hampered RED HEAVY. Approaching the 900m bumped heavily by SHINNECOCK and shifted wider on the track as a result and lost ground.
 
PRINCE OF FLINDERS – Approaching the 1100m was inconvenienced by another runner.
