After taking evidence from the aforementioned riders as well as J Felix who rode CHECKOUT ME TRAVLA and acting on their own observations Stewards established that CHECKOUT ME TRAVLA which was racing ungenerously at that point had rolled away from the rail on the turn taking CAPT’N THUNDERBIRD out onto the running of OVER THE CHOICE which were both hampered. ZOE BAY which was following had to be checked off the heels of CAPT’N THUNDERBIRD. As Stewards were of the opinion that no individual rider could be held responsible for the incident no further action was taken. On returning to scale Jockey P Cullen who rode 3rd placegetter NYMBOI advised Stewards that he intended to lodge an objection against both 1st placegetter KAP IT OFF (B Thomson) and 2nd placegetter PERFECTLY SWEET (M Abe) on the grounds of alleged interference over the final 200 metres. After hearing statements from the connections of all 3 horses and viewing the available footage Stewards formed the opinion that although there was a clear run for NYMBOI between KAP IT OFF and PERFECTLY SWEET approaching the 200 metres NYMBOI was not travelling well enough at the time to secure the run which had closed by the time the 100 metre point was reached. Consequently Stewards dismissed Jockey Cullen’s objection and declared correct weight on the semaphored numbers.
