QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BURDEKIN TURF CLUB HOME HILL – SATURDAY 9TH APRIL 2022 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Good 3 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D LaneStewards – D GriffithsClerk of Scales – StewardsJudges – K Dean, G D ChappellVeterinarian/Sample Collection Official – D VieroStarter – J Cullen Race 1: HAPPY EASTER Class B Handicap 1460 metres NORAH – Jockey G Kliese advised that the mare never felt comfortable on today’s tight circuit. Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Race 2: PLENTY OF CHOCOLATE Maiden Plate 1180 metres SCORPIO RISING (NZ) – Began awkwardly shifting out and bumping with BOSSUKA. Shifted in to obtain clear running passing the 100m. ALPHA BLUE – Shifted wider rounding the home turn. Race 3: BECOME A MEMBER QTIS Open Handicap 1180 metres ZEPPELIN – Fractious in the barrier. HIT SNOOZE – Began awkwardly. SUCH A WHIT – Shifted out on jumping bumping with ROTHMAN. ROTHMAN – Raced ungenerously for some distance in the early stages. TAWHIRI – Put in an awkward stride near the 1050m. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Following the running of Race 3, QAS Officers were required to attend to a barrier attendant who had become ill which subsequently delayed the running of Race 4. Race 4: GROWERS DAY 21ST MAY Benchmark 55 Handicap 1180 metres SILVAPLANA – Shifted wider on straightening in order to obtain clear running carrying DOUBLE DENMAN wider. DOUBLE DENMAN – Bumped with DIAMOND COUNTRY after being carried wider on straightening. Inclined to lay out when placed under pressure in the home straight inconveniencing DIAMOND COUNTRY. DIAMOND COUNTRY – Raced in a three wide position in the early and middle stages. Bumped with KEIGHLEY SUN soon after straightening. Race 5: CONGRATS TO OUR AWARD WINNERS Class B Handicap 1000 metres SAPPHIRE WINGS – Commenced to race very ungenerously soon after jumping losing significant ground. Found to have lost its tail chain in the running. Trainer M Preston was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being able to start in a race. VISTA ROSE (NZ) – Shifted out on jumping bumping with FUSED MAGIC. Shifted in marginally near the 800m to when a runner to the outside commenced to hang in, which resulted in CHATTILY having to be steadied. Jockey L McCoy was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances. FUSED MAGIC – Commenced to over-race near the 850m having to be restrained to avoid the heels of a runner to its front. LEGAL CHANCE – Commenced to hang in near the 800m crowding VISTA ROSE (NZ). Jockey D Simmons was advised to exercise greater care under similar circumstances. CHATILLY – Steadied near the 800m when crowded by VISTA ROSE (NZ).
