QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT HUGHENDEN JOCKEY CLUB, SATURDAY 27th MAY, 2017 WEATHER – FINE TRACK – DIRT OFFICIALSChairman of Stewards – Mr. R SmithStewards – Mr. P. Warren Clerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – Mr. A WearinjgVeterinarian – Dr. P Lynch Swab attendants – Veterinarian Bookmakers Supervisor – Stewards Starter – Mr. D Jones Race 1: FLINDERS SHIRE COUNCIL CLASS B HANDICAP – 800m RUBIDUS - Late scratching at 11.45am as no rider available. THE MONKEY – Jumped inwards at start and hampered two runners to its inside. Raced wide rounding the home turn. THE GIRLS IN PARIS – Inconvenienced at start. SOME EXCEL – Very fractious in barriers. Inconvenienced at start. Hung in for the majority. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed a skin condition to shoulder. Veterinary clearance required prior to starting again. SONIC BOOMER – Raced wide rounding the home turn. TRY BEFORE DUBAI – Rider Ms. B Thomson advised that the gelding did not begin well from a wide barrier and had resented the kickback throughout. POWER UP – Prior to the declaration of correct weight rider D Sparks viewed the photo finish print for first placing and was satisfied with the Judge’s placings and correct weight was then declared. Race 2: RINGROSE BUTTON CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP - 800m HI MACKAY - Late scratching at 11.45am as no suitable rider available. VINCE THE PRINCE – Fractious in barriers. Was slow into stride. BOOT SHAKER - Bumped with another runner near the 600m when racing ungenerously. CRACK A COLDIE – Was bumped by another runner near the 600m. Race 3: HUGHENDEN FIVE STAR SUPERMARKET QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200m GUACAMOLE - Jockey J. Felix replaced D. Ballard who was unable to make the weight. Stewards reprimanded D. Ballard under the provisions of AR.120(b) after taking into consideration his explanation. Jumped awkwardly and slow into stride. SHE’S OBSESSED – Raced wide for the majority. Race 4: FLINDERS SHIRE COUNCIL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1200m WHISPER WILLOW - Was a late scratching at 3.35pm by order of Stewards when unable to be loaded into the barriers. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on WHISPER WILLOW be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers be subject to deductions of 23 cents in the dollar for both win and place on the face value of the betting ticket. Stewards advised Trainer G Wiles that WHISPER WILLOW must obtain one (1) further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to again start in a race. SOLO SOPRANO – S. McGovern was a late riding engagement. Raced wide rounding the home turn. Rider was reprimanded under the provisions of AR.137(5)(a)(i), use of whip in forehand manner in consecutive strides prior to the 100m. Trainer K. McGovern was interviewed re late riding engagement of a rider for SOLO SOPRANO. Stewards accepted her explanation. SMOOTH ELEMENT – Bumped with another runner on jumping. OUR HUSSLER - Bumped with another runner on jumping. DIURNAL TIGER - Raced wide rounding the home turn. Race 5: TELEMON DROUGHTMASTER STUD RATING BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP – 1000m SPLASH OUT and RAPID QUALO were both late scratchings at 11.45am as no suitable riders were available. HEAD DRAGON – Apprentice M. Savva was a late riding engagement. WATCH THE RED – Marginally slowly away. On returning to scale was found to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the first occasion the gelding had suffered a bleeding attack, Trainer D Smith was advised that under the provisions of AR.53A the mandatory 3 month ban from racing would apply and a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward would be required prior to the gelding being permitted to again start in a race. BELEM GREY – Raced wide throughout. LUNAR LUCK – Raced wide throughout. EIGHTH KEEPER – Raced wide throughout. STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning licenseesJockey K.
