QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT HUGHENDEN JOCKEY CLUB Saturday 16th July, 2022WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Dirt (Soft) RAIL – In True PositionOFFICIALSChairman of Stewards – R.SmithStewards – C.Bew Clerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – B.Climie Veterinarian/Sample Collection Officer – Dr R.LynchStarter – C. Rogers Race 1 - HUGHENDEN JOCKEY CLUB MAIDEN PLATE 1000m THE APPOINTED TIME – Fractious in mounting yard. Raced wide rounding the home turn. ZOROSSA – Late scratching at 1.20pm at barriers when reared over backwards, dislodging rider J. Hoopert who was taken to Hughenden Hospital for treatment and assessment. The gelding was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 1:20pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered all monies wagered on the withdrawn horse be refunded and betting deductions of $0.08 cents the win and $0.09 cents the place on all successful bets made prior to the withdrawal of ZOROSSA were applicable. Trainer R. Hermann was advised that ZOROSSA must obtain 1 further barrier certificate prior to next race start. A veterinary examination of the gelding failed to find any irregularities. MOTORED – Fractious in barriers prior to start and was slowly away losing ground. Stewards advised trainer J. Manzelmann that a warning is being placed on the gelding re barrier behaviour. ARMAGEDDON FLYER – Slow into stride. Race 2 – KENNEDY RURAL CLASS B HANDICAP 1000m MISS ELLY – Shifted inwards shortly after the start and with bumped with STRUMAN. LIZ’ DELIGHT – Began awkwardly. Bumped with DIVINE JAZZ at start. DIVINE JAZZ - Slow to go. Bumped with LIZ’ DELIGHT at start. Trailed field throughout. Rider advised gelding did not handle the soft track conditions. Post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any irregularities. STRUMAN – Bumped by MISS ALLEY shortly after the start. Put in an awkward stride and became unbalanced passing the 150m. MAJOR NIK – Raced wide rounding the home turn. Following the running of this event a delegation of senior jockeys advised Stewards that due to inconsistencies in the racing surface they considered the track unsuitable for the meeting to continue and as a result the remainder of the program was abandoned.
