Race 1: TROPIC DISTRIBUTORS / ABBOTT MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP
 
SOARHI – hampered on jumping and lost ground; appeared indifferent in its action when easing down – a post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
INNER SPIRIT – jumped out at the start and hampered SOARHI.
 
 
Race 2: CAMPBELLS GRAZING CO/G R TERRY MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE
 
FLYING NED – travelled wide throughout.
LORD KENNY – was fractious in the barriers prior to dispatch; travelled wide throughout.
TELLEMALIE - rider Denicious Smith reported that the mare had resented the kick-back in the final straight.
BETHEHORSE – lay in throughout the final straight and had to be continually corrected.
QUINSTEP GIRL – Travelled wide throughout; Stewards questioned rider David Sparks regarding the run of the filly, which was heavily supported, but which was unplaced. In response Mr Sparks that QUINSTEP GIRL had failed to make the final turn correctly and this had proved detrimental its chances.
 
 
Race 3: NORTHERN RURAL GROUP LADIES BRACELET BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP1,000 M
 
CHOSEN DISTANCE – was scratched by order of the Stewards at 11:00pm on Friday 5th July 2024 after not having raced or trialled for 12-months.  Trainer Mr Kelvin Russell was advised of the requirements with respect to the policy.
PLUMS AKIMBO – hung out making the turn near the 500 metres dictating SALIKA DIVA and GOLDEN CHARLES; continued to hang out and finished wide on the track- connections were advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to next racing.
HI ZERO – began very awkwardly and settled well back.
GOLDEN CHARLES – travelled wide throughout.
DEVIL’S NUMBER – slow in the early stages.
BETTER CLASS – was declared a late scratching at 12:58pm after trainer Mr Kelvin Russell contacted Stewards and advised that due to personal reasons, he was unable to attend the meeting.
YANIT – travelled wide throughout.
SALIKA DIVA – forced wider rounding the final turn; protested against the winner PLUMS AKIMBO was dismissed.
On weighing in Apprentice Isabella Teh, rider of the third placed SALIKA DIVA, advised that she wished to lodge a protest against the race winner PLUMS AKIMBO, alleging interference rounding the final turn. The grounds of the protest being that PLUMS AKIMBO ran out rounding the final turn forcing SALIKA DIVA wider on the track and dictating its running. After considering submissions and viewing vision of the race the Stewards determined that notwithstanding the actions of PLUMS AKIMBO, the chances SALIKA DIVA were not affected to an extent where a change of placings was required and resultantly the protest was dismissed.
 
 
Race 4: HONEYCOMBES SALES & SERVICE BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP,100 M
 
GOLDEN EIGHTY – broke through the barriers prior to release, however was restrained quickly and cleared to start.
ONTHETAKE – travelled wide throughout.
TACTICAL ILLUSION ­– travelled wide throughout; gave ground over the latter stage and finished well back. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed………
VILA TINTO – began very awkwardly and settled well back. – travelled wide throughout.
FAR REACHING – lay in after leaving the barriers crowding TACTICAL ILLUSION and ALL THAT BLING.
ALL THAT BLING – crowded shortly after leaving the barriers: Stewards questioned Apprentice Shae Nielson regarding the run of ALL THAT BLING which was well supported but which finished well back. In explanation Ms Nielson stated that after being crowded at the start and getting back, the gelding had, in her opinion, not appreciated today’s racing surface and had only travelled fairly throughout.
NELLYATION – travelled wide throughout,
 
 
Race 5: PAGE & CO STAMFORD CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1,200 M
 
CIAO BICKY – slow into stride and settled well back.
SIZZLING SUN – travelled wide throughout.
