General
As Jockey K Rockett was not in attendance at today’s race meeting replacements were made as per Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1 – CUMIC STEEL / CENTURY CRANES RATINGS BAND 0-65 HANDICAP 900m
Watch Me Dazzle Em – Slowly into stride.
Salesman – Slowly into stride.
Dexterous – Hung out in the middle stages.
Magnitude Lad – Jockey Ms. B Thomson was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR132 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
Race 2 – BROTHERS LEAGUES CLUB QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1100m
Izumi – Shifted in on jumping tightening a runner to its inside.
Chloe Jade – Tightened between runners on jumping.
Badboy Charlie – Shifted out on jumping tightening a runner to its outside.
Riverside Kitten – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
The Frontier - Bumped with another runner on jumping.
Quezmar – Raced wide for the majority.
Linnet Moon - Raced wide for the majority.
Kensington Fury – The gelding which had sustained a superficial abrasion to the off hind leg enroute to the race meeting underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was cleared to start. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils in running. This being the 2nd episode the mandatory lifetime ban in Australia will apply under the provisions of AR79(6).
Race 3 – MICALE CABINETS / COL’S VINYL & CANVAS CLASS B HANDICAP 1200m
Miracles Aplenty – Slowly away.
Courageous Chloe – Slowly away.
Cool Attitude – Knuckled over on jumping. Had to be restrained off heels near the 600m.
Shakuni – Over-raced in the early stages.
Van Gaal – Over-raced in the middle stages.
Yalanji – Was caught wide in the middle stages.
Snooze Ya Lose – Jockey G Watson reported the mare hung out from the 500m to the winning post proving difficult to ride. Forced another runner wider rounding the home turn. Trainer Mr. A Bailey advised he will give consideration to a gear change prior to next race start. Nonetheless Mr. Bailey was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing manners.
October Storm - Raced wide for the majority.
Jackoh – Over-raced in the middle stages.
Osmond – Forced wider rounding the home turn by another runner which was hanging out.
Race 4 – CANADIAN CLUB JOHNSTONE RIVER OPEN HANDICAP 1200m
The start of this event was delayed whilst QAS Officers attended to an on-course patron who was taken ill.
Ruler – Slowly away. Was disappointed when attempting to obtain clear running near the 100m.
Rock Spur – Slowly away after being bumped by another runner on jumping.
National Trail – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Platinum Tycoon – Had to be restrained on several occasions when over-racing in the early and middle stages.
Polar Blast – Had to be restrained on several occasions when over-racing in the early and middle stages.
Wallander – Raced wide for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery rate. Trainer Mr. R Miller was advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to next race start.
Hidden In Heaven – Raced wide for the majority.
Desert Cowboy – Was restrained when racing in restricted room for a short distance approaching the winning post.
Race 5 – CAIRNS HARDWARE TRAINERS CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1500m
Power of Divas – Over-raced in the early stages.
Celestial Jewel – Over-raced in the middle stages.
Inverness Express – Was caught wide in the middle stages.
Occhilupo – Was caught wide in the middle stages.
Jimmy Hoffa – Jockey S Pawsey reported that the gelding had never raced comfortably on the tight circuit.
Soluminate – Jockey P Romeo was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR132 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
Race 6 – COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUALIFIER / CORAL COAST FINANCIAL INNISFAIL CUP OPEN HANDICAP 2000m
Arms Race – Was fractious in the barrier. Raced wide in the middle stages.
Bochy – Slowly away.
Crimson Halo – Slowly away.  Raced wide in the middle stages. Shifted under pressure passing the 200m bumping with another runner and becoming unbalanced.
Calypso Bay – Raced wide in the middle stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer’s representative Ms. J Doolan was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to next race start.
We Just Love It – Made the 1600m crossing awkwardly. Shifted out near the 200m to obtain clear running bumping another runner which was shifting in under pressure. Jockey R Thompson was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR132 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining the penalty Stewards to into account Jockey Thompson’s exemplary record in relation to the rule.
Set the Bar High – Jockey W D’Avila accidentally dropped his whip passing the 200m.
Captains Way – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer’s representative Ms. J Doolan was advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to next race start.
