All rider submitted a breath sample prior to their race ride and were all cleared to fulfil their engagements.

Race 1: GRECO'S AUTO ELECTRICS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 900 Metres

ANCIENT STYLE – As the gelding had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Near the 600 metres faltered in its action and fell dislodging rider Ms M. Campbell. After being quickly attended to by QAS officers Ms Campbell was taken to Innisfail hospital for further observation. Stewards will interview apprentice Campbell at a time and date to be fixed. A veterinary examination, although inconclusive, indicated signs of possible heart trauma, as ANCIENT STYLE failed to respond to treatment the gelding was euthanised on humane grounds.

HEAD BEE – Began awkwardly.

OUR APACHE – Shifted out near the 300 metres bumping SHE’S A MISSION on the hindquarter and soon after again bumped with SHE’S A MISSION and was unbalanced.

SHE'S A MISSION – Bumped on the hindquarter near the 300 metres and was unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority. Trainer P. Rowe reported following the race the mare may have gotten its tongue over the bit.

Following the delay in regard to the incident all races were put back one race with the last race to run at 3.52pm.

The track was inspected near the 600 metres and was deemed safe for racing.

Race 2: FNQ MOTOR GROUP TULLY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 900 Metres

ILZOOMYA – Trainer Ms S. Royes was advised that the gelding would not be permitted to start after today until the bonafides of ownership are corrected under the provisions of LR 42(2).

MIDAS STAR – Laid in near the 200 metres crowding NAZORIAN before being corrected. Continued to lay in over the concluding stages.

NAZORIAN – Crowded for room near the 200 metres and was steadied.

GUAPO – Laid out near the 50 metres. Tightened for room shortly after the winning post.

NEVETON – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

SHERE KHAN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

BRING ME TO LIFE (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

OUT OF SIGHT – Shifted in shortly after the winning post tightening GUAPO which had to be checked. Jockey N. Thomas (OUT OF SIGHT) was severely reprimanded.

Race 3: MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM ITC BENCHMARK 60 HANDICA – 1500 Metres

ZOUHOPE – Slow to begin.

IRRESISTIBLE FORCE – Shifted out at the start brushing with WISHNOWSKY.

WISHNOWSKY – Brushed on jumping. Over-raced in the early stages.

WONG WAY – Jockey N. Thomas reported WONG WAY tended to lay in throughout the race.

Race 4: RAINE & HORNE INNISFAIL OPEN HANDICAP – 1200 Metres

BAKERSFIELD – After beginning well then shifted inwards to be inside the line of the running rail on entering the course proper.

DUSKY DAMSEL – Over-raced in the early stages.

MR METRICS – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 5: FNQ MOTOR GROUP INNISFAIL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres

HIT SNOOZE – Bounded in the air on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

DEER HUNTER – Began awkwardly.

HERNE HILL – Shifted out leaving the 350 metres to obtain clear running, bumping with KITEMA.

DEER HUNTER – Began awkwardly.

FEARGACH – Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer A. Malliff was at a loss to explain today’s performance and gave an undertaking to advise stewards should anything further come to his attention after returning to its stable base.

DEER HUNTER – Began awkwardly.

JOURNO – Raced wide for wide for the majority
