SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Gold Coast 24.2.16 – Race 6: N. Thomas, the rider of LITTLE MISS MOLLY, was reprimanded for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.

RACE 1: COL BAYLISS MEMORIAL MAIDEN H’CAP – 800M

As B. Appo was ill, S. Fawke was substituted as the rider of RUBY'S POCKET.

LWAZI – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner.

KATIEANI – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey R. Goltz was struck on the bridge of the nose by a foreign object during the event. Following the event jockey Goltz was examined by ambulance officials and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagement.

NOTHIN' ZAPPENIN' – Raced greenly in the home straight.

SAMUEL JAMES – Hampered at the start and lost ground.

VANCOUVER STAR – On leaving the enclosure and entering the track, A. Badger was dislodged, suffering a harmless fall. After remounting and arriving at the barriers, jockey Badger advised that she had suffered no ill effects and indicated her preparedness to fulfil her engagement.

NATURAL PROTEGE – Shifted out after being bumped at the start, hampering another runner. Raced greenly and laid out during the early stages.

PELLONIA – Steadied to avoid heels near the 500m. On returning to scale the filly appeared to suffer a suspected cardiac arrest, which proved fatal. In the incident rider J. Taylor was dislodged. Following procedures, blood and urine samples were collected from PELLONIA and the filly was transported to Gatton University Hospital for an in-depth post-mortem. In the circumstances J. Taylor did not weigh in for 3rd, however as stewards were satisfied that the horse had carried its allocated weight, correct weight was declared. J. Taylor was subsequently examined by ambulance officials and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.


RACE 2: MAX STANDFIELD MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M

CRIMSON GOD – Slow to begin.

KAPSTAR – Slow to begin. Hung badly throughout the event and raced very wide. When questioned regarding the horse's performance, rider A. Denby stated that the gelding hung badly for the majority of the race, proving very difficult to ride and as a result taking no competitive part in race. Trainer L. Wheeler was advised that KAPSTAR must perform satisfactorily in an official trial before being permitted to race again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings and a swab sample was taken.


RACE 3: KEVIN KEIDGE MEMORIAL QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M

HAVASAY – Late scratching at 7.39 am. Trainer L. Birchley was fined $100 for failing to scratch by the prescribed time.

COPPER COIN – Tightened for room at the start. Raced three wide until a point approaching the 700m before improving forward and racing one off the fence. Compounded in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings apart from a laceration inside the nearside hock.

THEOPOLY – Tightened for room at the start. Inclined to hang in rounding the home turn and on entering the home straight.

BOCAGE – Tightened for room at the start. Overraced in the early stages and as a result improved forward and raced three wide from leaving the 700m.

AMBER LIGHTS – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start. Commenced to hang in under pressure leaving the 100m until approaching the finish line.

RACE 4: CHANNEL 7 F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1350M

KNIGHTWICK MANOR – Inconvenienced at the start and lost ground.

THESSALY – Began awkwardly.

WIGGLE WIGGLE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Lost its off fore plate in running.

JACKSON MOONWALK – Slow to begin.

RACE 5: DR MERVYN FISH MEMORIAL C,G&E CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1350M

GREY NOT BLACK – Had a tendency to hang out rounding the home turn and continued to shift out when placed under pressure in the home straight.

ROCKIANA – Slow into stride.

RACE 6: IPSWICH CUP MARQUEES SELLING FAST 0-70 H’CAP – 1200M

BASSILLIQUE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

LUSH BELLE – Hung out when placed under pressure in the home straight.

DON'TCRYARGENTINA – Slow to begin. Had to be momentarily steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of OH MY ROCKET, which shifted in slightly near the 900m.

OH MY ROCKET – F. Jervis was reprimanded for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, stewards took into account that this was jockey Jervis's first breach of the new whip rules.

RACE 7: 2016 = 150 YEARS OF IPSWICH CUP CLASS 3 PLATE – 1000M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to afford M. Cahill, the rider of 2nd placegetter DEEPEST, the opportunity to view the stewards' patrol footage to determine whether he had grounds on which to lodge an objection against the winner, alleging interference near the 200m. After viewing the videos, M. Cahill indicated that he did not wish to proceed and correct was semaphored.

DEEPEST – Had to shift wider when PATRONIZING shifted out slightly under pressure near the 200m.

KING OF THE FLAME – Raced three wide without cover. L. Tilley was admonished for his use of the whip on a horse out of contention.

BALKAN BAMBINO – Had to be steadied approaching the 800m when tightened for room by TRESSLES, which shifted in. J. Byrne, the rider of TRESSLES, was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.

CONMIGO – S. Apthorpe was admonished for his use of the whip on a horse out of contention.
