DEVIL'S PRINCESS – Raced wide in the early stages and allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 800m. Had to be momentarily steadied leaving the 400m when tightened for room between MEGHAPUSHPA and OFCOURSE SHE DOES, both of which shifted ground.MEGHAPUSHPA – Raced 3 wide without cover from the 600m.Race 2: RDT Recycling Operations CG&E Maiden Plate – 1200m MASTODON – Slow to begin. Jockey D. Griffin reported at scale that the gelding failed to muster any early speed despite his urgings and tailed the field throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. A warning was placed against the racing manners of MASTODON. OUR CEE BEE – Shifted out at the start and bumped MANABAR on 2 occasions. MANABAR – Bumped twice at the start. IL PADRONE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide from the 600m. When questioned as to the tactics adopted, apprentice J. Orman stated that his instructions were to be in a forward position, however after beginning awkwardly the runners to his outside had improved and crossed him and instead of improving forward and being caught wide, he elected to remain in a rearward position with cover. He added he was able to improve into the race from the 600m where the gelding finished the race off only fairly. He indicated that the gelding would be better suited to racing over distances further than that of today's event. PICK OF THE PUBS – Overraced in the early stages.JESTER DANE – Raced wide in the early stages and was obliged to press forward and obtained the position outside the leader near the 800m. PUDER – Raced wide from the 600m. Race 3: Bestmark Insurance Brokers QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1350m NUSKEE PARKER – Declared a late scratching at 12.05 pm on veterinary advice after being injured en route to the track. TARBERT – Slow to begin.HEALTHY GORGEOUS – Slow to begin.CHOISAY – Inconvenienced when PIPPOS shifted out near the 1200m. URUBAMBA – Overraced in the early stages. WATCHED – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Lost its off fore plate in running. When asked to explain the tactics adopted, jockey J. Byrne stated that his intention was to take up a forward position, and near the 1000m when he attempted to shift in to obtain cover behind the leaders, TARBERT and URUBAMBA had improved to his inside, which resulted in him being unable to obtain that position. As a result he was obliged to race 3 wide without cover throughout. Jockey Byrne added that, in his view, the tempo of the race was not overly strong and therefore he had no concerns with racing in that position. PIPPOS – Jockey C. Dell was reprimanded for using his whip in consecutive strides. Race 4: CGU Insurance Class 2 H'cap – 1350m AKACHETA LEE – Connections advised that the horse from the good barrier would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Began awkwardly and lost ground, settling towards the rear of the field. RED MAGIC – Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping SHE'S A RUBY. Obliged to alter course to secure clear running approaching the 100m. SHE'S A RUBY – Bumped at the start. PURE INTELLIGENCE – Commenced to overrace approaching the 1000m when being restrained, and continued to do so for some distance and was obliged to race 3 deep for the entire event. Race 5: The Entire Group Class 3 Plate – 2190m HIGHWARD – A veterinary examination of the gelding, which slipped over in the tie-up stall, cleared the horse to race. ROCK ON IVY – Change of tactics. After leading last start, connections advised the horse would be ridden in a midfield to back position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Shifted in near the 50m, bumped the running rail and became unbalanced. CARACAS – Slow to begin.GROBBELAAR – Had to be steadied from the heels of COLLATERAL, which shifted in near the 1500m. When afforded the opportunity to comment on the disappointing performance, apprentice Orman could give no tangible explanation other than to add that the gelding may not have appreciated today's track conditions. Trainer R. Heathcote reported that today's track conditions were a contributing factor, in his opinion, in the disappointing performance of the gelding. He indicated to stewards it would now be his intention not to start the gelding on tracks similarly rated in future. A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which finished a distant last, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. FREEZELIGHTNING – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted and the overall performance, jockey Hammersley stated that after beginning well he was able to take up a forward position just behind the leaders, and after travelling comfortably throughout the race the gelding failed to quicken as expected when asked to improve into the race from the 700m and was one-paced when placed under pressure from the 400m, proving disappointing. CALLIEBOTTE – Lost its near fore plate in running. Race 6: Ipswich Cup Tickets on Sale Now! Class 1 H'cap – 1700mCAVIAR GIRL – Began awkwardly and bumped STEERING and then shifted in and bumped SLIPPERY SAGA. When questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted, jockey T. Harrison reported that whilst it was not her intention to lead, the racing manners of the filly, which was inclined to hang out, resulted in her allowing the horse to stride forward in order to have it settle, however the filly continued to hang out for the remainder of the race and proved difficult to ride out with her usual vigour in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer J. Wallace was advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.STEERING – Bumped at the start. Overraced for a short distance near the 1400m when being restrained.
