RACE 1: HAPPY 70TH TERRY RAMSAY QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M

DEE CEE DELIGHTS – Slow into stride.

MEAL TICKET – Began awkwardly and was then bumped.


RACE 2: SCHWEPPES STABLE MAIDEN PLATE – 800M

AGIA MONI – Bumped heavily with another runner en route to the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon at the start and deemed suitable to race.

YOU LITTLE THIEF – Bumped heavily with another runner en route to the barriers, dislodging B. Stewart, examined by the veterinary surgeon at the start and deemed suitable to race.

SMART CRAFT – Checked when hampered at the start. Hung out badly on the home turn.

PROVISIONAL – Slow to begin.

 
RACE 3: MOUNTAIN DEW F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M

FLAUTINO – Steadied when disappointed for a run at the 300m, was then shifted to the inside of LUCKY SHOW GIRL where it was again disappointed for running when that horse shifted in, and was then shifted out after the 200m to find clear running.

LUCKY SHOW GIRL – Overraced outside the lead in the early and middle stages.

SAGACIOUS ROSE – Slow into stride and then raced wide without cover.

GREY OPINION – Steadied when crowded at the start.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.

RACE 4: PEPSI PUNTERS C,G&E CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M

ARCHYTAS – Steadied from the wide barrier to race in a rearward position.

JOHNNY BE QUICK – Hung out rounding the home turn.

PITBULL – Raced three wide throughout without cover.

RACE 5: COOLRIDGE RATINGS BAND 0-60 H’CAP – 1350M

CLEVER BOY – Inconvenienced after being bumped at the start.

I’M NO RUBY – Trainer P. Kings was fined $100 for the late declaration of J. Byrne as rider. Steadied to avoid heels near the 800m.

SHADOW SHOW – Apprentice M. Murphy was fined $300 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, stewards took into account apprentice Murphy's recent poor record in regard to the whip rules.

DIAGNOSE – Shortly after the start was steadied to avoid the heels of LEWAULO, which shifted in. B. Evans, the rider of LEWAULO, was reprimanded.

BURT – Slow into stride.

Following a heavy shower of rain during the running of this event, the track was downgraded to GOOD 4 after the race.

RACE 6: CUP DAY MARQUEES SELLING FAST RATINGS BAND 0-75 H’CAP – 1350M

As R. Wiggins was to be overweight, J. Orman was substituted as the rider of ALBERT'S CHOICE. R. Wiggins was fined $100.

LAST SIGHT – Despite having a favourable run, B. Stewart was unable to report anything in relation to the horse's poor performance. He said the horse was under pressure from after the 700m and unable to hold its position. Trainer L. Hatch advised that he would recommend to connections that the horse had been disappointing this time in and the intention would be to send the horse for an immediate spell.
