SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Ipswich 30.3.16 – Race 4: Acting on a complaint by a member of the public, stewards questioned jockey J. Morris in relation to his conduct behind the barriers as the rider of SUIT in that he applied the whip with force on two occasions to the horse shortly after arriving at the barriers. After reviewing the videos available and taking evidence from jockey Morris, stewards severely reprimanded him and advised him that such conduct was not acceptable and was harmful to the image of racing.

GENERAL

As J. Byrne was injured and B. Pengelly had transport difficulties, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

RACE 1: HAPPY 21ST SAM FELLOWS MAIDEN PLATE – 2150M

ELIZONDO – Apprentice B. Appo reported that it was not his intention to race as far forward today, however due to the slow tempo set in the early and middle stages he was obliged to race more forward than anticipated.

GODWOOD – Shifted wider on the track to improve near the 700m and raced wide thereafter.

JAM WITH THE DUKE – Shifted three wide near the 700m and raced wide from that point onwards.

PALMER – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

PARIS BY NIGHT – Overraced in the early stages.

LORD JUSTICE – Hung out rounding the home turn.

PONTY – Trainer L. Ross advised that the gelding will be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. After beginning well, the horse raced in a forward position and overraced with its head in the air until obtaining cover near the 1200m.

YOUR SAY – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

BOCAGE – Trainer R. Heathcote advised that the filly will be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Raced wide until ridden forward to a position outside the lead passing the 1200m.

RACE 2: HAPPY 21ST BEC BARNES CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1000M

CHARGE MISSILE – Blundered on jumping away.

HEAVENLY GLASS – Blundered on jumping away.

RACE 3: CANCER COUNCIL CHARITY DAY 15/4 QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

CHRONOLOGICAL – Bumped near the 100m. D. Griffin reported that his mount hung out for the majority of the event and also indicated to stewards that the stable were intending to send the gelding for a spell. Trainer T. Gollan confirmed that the gelding would now be sent for a spell.

DREAMER'S GOAL – Bumped at the start. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Bumped by HANNAH'S WISH passing the 100m.

NUSKEE PARKER – Had to be steadied approaching the winning post when awkwardly placed at heels.

OTTO FROM HAMBURG – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

PLAN RED – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

TALKING JET – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Hung out rounding the home turn.

HANNAH'S WISH – Slow to begin. Hung in under pressure over the final 200m.

LE JEU – Shifted in near the 100m and bumped CHRONOLOGICAL.

MISHANI FORBIDDEN – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn. Inconvenienced approaching the winning post.

MARKED FOREVER – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

RACE 4: GLEN STOWER FUNDRAISER 15/4 MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M

ALL TO GAIN – Raced three wide without cover.

TORONTO FLYER – Began awkwardly and bumped DANE JESTER. Had to be restrained from heels when racing greenly near the 400m.

JAPONICA – Hampered rounding the home turn.

LAKOUDIS – Blundered on jumping.

MAITLAND GEM – Slow to begin.

CYRENE – Finished a distant last. Trainer K. Jones was advised that the horse would be ineligible to compete at metropolitan meetings until such time as satisfactory provincial form is established.

SKYLAR'S STAR – Slow to begin. The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse had lost the near hind plate and was lame in the near hind leg. Trainer R. Mackay was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again.

RACE 5: LABOUR DAY RACING 2/5 CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1350M

MONSTER OF ENERGY – When questioned regarding the horse's performance, R. McMahon noted that the gelding was first up today from a spell. He added that the gelding raced strongly in the early and middle stages and that this, combined with it being first up, had a detrimental effect on its performance. Jockey McMahon was of the view that the gelding will derive a fitness benefit from today's race.

NO THANKYOU ALI – Raced wide throughout.

DR DEEJAY – Inclined to lay in under pressure for the majority of the home straight and over the concluding stages had to be steadied when tightened for room.

WYLIE – Raced three wide without cover.

RACE 6: 1866 CUP ON SHOW AT IPSWICH ART GALLERY CLASS 3 PLATE – 1666M

Trainer T. Timbery was fined $100 for failing to present ROAD TO THE BAY to the enclosure by the prescribed time.

BERNITCHY – Had to be steadied when tightened for room approaching the winning post.

CAPSIZED – Slow to begin.

DOUBLE EAGLE – J. Morris was fined $100 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

ANNIHILATION – Raced three wide without cover.

YEAGER – Slow to begin and then failed to muster speed despite the efforts of its rider.

CHANGE OF LUCK – Shifted out and bumped BERNITCHY on entering the home straight.

RACE 7: CUP DAY TIX SELLING FAST C,G&E RATINGS BAND 0-65 H’CAP – 1200M

ROBERT'S COMMAND – Raced three wide without cover.

UNIQUE MISTIQUE – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner..

BEAUXBATON – Bumped at the start. Held up rounding the home turn.

KING OF THE FLAME – Apprentice L. Tilley reported that when HANWRITTEN crossed his mount near the 900m, it then commenced to overrace and shifted in, making contact with the running rail and then shifted out abruptly.

GOOD JUDGE – Inconvenienced near the 900m. When asked to comment on the horse's performance apprentice M. McGillivray stated that the gelding commenced to weaken and lose ground from the 800m and proved disappointing. He added that this could be attributed to today's firm track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings other than that the gelding had lost the near fore plate in running.

PUDMARDELS – Inconvenienced near the 900m.

RACE 8: IPSWICHTURFCLUB.COM.AU F&M RATINGS BAND 0-65 H’CAP – 1200M

As apprentice L. Dittman was stood down by the paramedics following his ride in Race 7, apprentice C. Dell was substituted as the rider of MOONLIGHT DANCER. Apprentice Dittman was advised that he will be required to produce a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding.

ALL IN ALL – Connections advised that the horse, which has been racing in a forward position, would be ridden quieter today from the wide barrier. The horse was ridden accordingly and settled at the rear of the field.

ATTITUDINAL MISS – Improved on to heels inside the 100m, shifted out and bumped another runner.

ETRANGERE – Raced wide throughout.

MYDALEA – Shifted out at the start and bumped another runner. Raced three wide without cover until a point near the 800m where it obtained cover.

ALL THAT IS – When afforded the opportunity to comment on the horse's performance, apprentice S. Fawke stated that after travelling comfortably for the majority of the event, his mount failed to respond to his riding from the 400m and proved disappointing. He added that the filly may not have been suited to today's track conditions.

MINKUS – Began awkwardly.

TANZANITE – Bumped by another runner inside the 100m.

RULING MISS – Bumped at the start.
