SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS

From ITC 5.8.16 – Race 1: Stewards today concluded their inquiry into T. Harrison's tactics and riding of MAJELLA MAGIC. Evidence was taken on the day from trainer T. Gollan and Ms T. Harrison. Ms Harrison stated that in the horse's previous preparation it had been inclined to overrace and at its last start sat outside the lead in a quickly run race, weakened badly in the straight and was most disappointing. She said this preparation the filly had had earmuffs added in an endeavour to get it to settle. Ms Harrison advised she had been instructed today from the inside draw to endeavour to obtain cover behind the lead and she thought that would come from MR HENNESSY, which was drawn to her outside. She said with these instructions in mind, as soon as she began she took hold of her horse, however became aware that STRUCTURAL DAMAGE (B. Ainsworth) was being ridden hard in an endeavour to cross her mount. She said when this occurred, soon after, B. Ainsworth then allowed MR HENNESSY to stride forward of her horse, resulting in MAJELLA MAGIC being placed three back towards the rear. When questioned why, rounding the turn and on straightening, she failed to improve between STRUCTURAL DAMAGE and ARGYLL BAY, Ms Harrison explained that she was concerned that STRUCTURAL DAMAGE was shifting out gradually rounding the turn and she could have improved into the narrow run but it would have placed her in danger due to the inside horse shifting out slightly. Mr Gollan confirmed the instructions given, however added that the intentions to have cover came undone when MAJELLA MAGIC was placed three back on the fence. Ms Harrison was told that her actions in restraining in the early stages may have been too hasty and it would have been better in hindsight to have remained racing inside STRUCTURAL DAMAGE which would have left her behind the leader MR HENNESSY. She was also told that her action in not improving into the run where in the stewards' opinion there was sufficient room was overcautious, that a rider of her experience and capability would be expected to avail herself of such runs and she would be expected to show greater urgency on her mounts in similar circumstances.

Apprentice Guthmann-Chester's licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, to commence at midnight on Tuesday 16 August and expire at midnight on Wednesday 24 August. In considering penalty, Stewards noted a minor contributory shift out from JADEDFOX.

ADERITO shifted in from a 6-wide position to a 4-wide position, resulting in NO EQUAL shifting in and away from that runner whilst overracing, tightening the running of LAYLA'S LADY, which as a result clipped that runner's heels and blundered.
