RACE 2: BOOK NOW MELBOURNE CUP FUNCTION QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1030M COSMOS SEVEN – Raced wide throughout. On return to scale N. Day reported that the filly raced greenly and did not travel strongly throughout the event. He added that when placed under pressure in the home straight the filly became awkward and dipped and from that point he desisted from riding the horse out for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be mildly shin sore in the near foreleg. Trainer L. Birchley will be advised that should the horse continue with its current preparation he will be required to obtain a veterinary clearance for the horse. GYPSY MISS – Raced wide throughout. SKYLIGHT – Slow into stride. SHE'S SO MEAN – Began awkwardly. RACE 3: IPSWICHTURFCLUB.COM.AU MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M TEMUJIN'S MOON – Steadied from heels near the 900m. OCCHILUPO – Raced wide throughout. When questioned as to the horse's below market expectation performance, jockey B. Stewart advised that he was forced to race wide throughout the event, however despite this he expected, when he placed the colt under pressure, it would respond to his riding better than it did today. Trainer B. Currie agreed with jockey Stewart's assessment and undertook to advise stewards if anything becomes apparent in the days following the event which may have had an effect on the performance. RACE 4: BOOK YOUR FUNCTION NOW MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M MOSS PRINCESS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. ONYX LASS – Slow to begin. FIFTH STREET – At the request of apprentice R. Williams, the horse underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival at the barriers and was passed fit to start. Raced wide for the majority of the event. REDREKA – Slow to begin. MOLLY MIYAKO – Fractious in the float en route to the course and sustained minor abrasions to the off hind hock. Examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race. Began awkwardly. Rounding the home turn was steadied to avoid the heels of REDHAZE, which shifted out when not fully clear. T. Harrison, the rider of REDHAZE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. RACE 5: WEDDINGS, PARTIES, ANYTHING AT ITC CLASS 3 PLATE – 1030M LISTANERA – Raced wide throughout. TACTICIAN – Raced wide throughout. JOMAR'S ELEMENT – Began awkwardly. On return to scale L. Cassidy advised that his mount hung out rounding the home turn. WELL SIGHTED – Hung out badly rounding the home turn and proved difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. TRIPLE JEOPARDY – Raced keenly during the middle stages and raced wide. MARGO MAREE – Blundered on jumping away. RIVERS END – Slow to begin. RACE 6: CHRISTMAS FUNCTIONS AT ITC CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1680M BROCSON – Clipped heels and blundered when attempting to secure clear running rounding the home turn. FELTON ROAD – J. Orman could offer no tangible explanation for the horse's disappointing performance other than that the gelding may not have been suited by racing in a more forward position in today's event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery and a very high heart rate. Stewards will follow up with trainer R. Lipp in the days following the event regarding the horse's post-race recovery. RACE 7: BOOK FOR FESTIVE BUFFET BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1350M MULLET MAN – Laid in from the 600m. ABITAZAR – When questioned regarding the horse's disappointing performance, J. Byrne advised that his mount travelled comfortably throughout the event and when placed under pressure he expected the horse to improve into the race strongly. Jockey Byrne added that the horse may not have appreciated today's firm surface and for that reason did not respond to his riding in the straight as he had expected. LEPRECHAUN LAD – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. LOADED AND READY – Raced wide throughout.
