After being loaded, INVERARAY kicked out and got its off hind leg caught in the back gate. Acting on veterinary advice, stewards declared INVERARAY a late scratching at 12:44 pm. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on INVERARAY be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 12:44 pm:

KASTANOS – J. Taylor dropped his whip at the 150m.

LITTLE MISS MONACO – Overraced and had to be steadied off heels in the early stages of the event. Had a tendency to lay in rounding the home turn.

Race 2: GRANDVIEW STUD CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1690M

As 3rd placegetter RAGGLE VARR broke down in both sesamoids on pulling up, acting under the provisions of AR. 142 stewards declared correct weight notwithstanding that it was impractical for rider T. Brooker to weigh in. RAGGLE VARR was subsequently euthanased on humane grounds. Apprentice Brooker was not injured in the incident and was cleared to fulfil her remaining engagements.

CASCATA ROSSA – Hung out rounding the home turn and then continued to lay out under pressure in the home straight.

In determining penalty, stewards were mindful of apprentice Ride’s previous good record and the low degree of interference.

Race 6: GUNNEDAH BURRELL ESTATE QTIS 3YO CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1100M
