GENERAL
 
As jockey R. Plumb was indisposed due to illness, riding replacements were made in Races 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Stewards accepted the explanations provided by a number of trainers regarding the late declaration of riders as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: SCHWEPPES QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M
 
The start of this race was delayed when DUSI CANOE had to be resaddled upon arriving at the barriers.
 
BECKFORD – When questioned by Stewards regarding the disappointing performance, jockey M. McGillivray advised that the colt failed to respond to his riding and, in his opinion, raced flat today. A post-race veterinary examination of the colt failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
DUSI CANOE – Slow to begin.
 
MOONSHINER – Restrained in the early stages to obtain cover. Held up rounding the home turn. Raced in restricted room shortly after straightening, and raced greenly when in restricted room. Bumped by BECKFORD which laid in whilst weakening over the final 100m.
 
NIAB – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly approaching the 1200m and had to be restrained from the heels of BECKFORD.
 
REDENZO BULLET – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 2: IPSWICH CARPET COURT MAIDEN PLATE – 1515M
 
NEMINGAH – Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
MEMORIAL DAY – Commenced to overrace whilst in the leading position passing the 1400m, and proved difficult to restrain. Commenced to hang out passing the 1200m, and continued to do so for the remainder. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer S. Chirnside was advised the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
RAGI MAC – Slow to begin. Shifted 3 wide to improve after passing the 800m.
 
TALES OF THE HEART – Steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of LOVE IS ALL AROUND which shifted out approaching the 300m.
 
LOVE IS ALL AROUND – Cast the off fore plate prior to entering the enclosure which had to be refitted. Laid in under pressure approaching the 100m, and became awkwardly placed at the heels of NEMINGAH and had to be steadied.
 
STAREMM – Disappointed for a run to the outside of ENCHANTINGLY approaching the 600m, and then had to steady away from the heels of that runner. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 3: RIVER 949FM MAIDEN PLATE – 1515M
 
The start of this race was delayed when FLAG RAISER had to be removed from the barriers to enable an adjustment to be made to its saddle.
 
The start was further her delayed when COMPLIANCE broke through the barriers when FLAG RAISER was having its saddle adjusted. The filly, which travelled a short distance before being returned to the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
AND FINALLY – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
LAZARO – Steadied away from the heels of MARAKOPA approaching the 400m, and was held up until approaching the 200m.
 
SILVERBROOK LAD – Improved onto the heels of the weakening STARRY BEAUTY approaching the 200m, and had some difficulty securing clear running between STARRY BEAUTY and MARAKOPA.
 
MARAKOPA – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
RUFFIN’ IT – Raced keenly when racing in a trailing position in the early stages.
 
TOP RULER – Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader passing the 900m.
 
MISFITS – Bumped by LAZARO which shifted out to improve passing the 200m.
 
Race 4: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 2170M
 
MISHANI SECRET – Commenced to overrace when in a trailing position approaching the winning post on the first occasion, and continued to do so until passing the 1200m.
 
MISS SILKY – Raced keenly when in a rearward position in the early and middle stages.
 
HALEIGHOZAE – Slow to begin.
 
PLATINUM DEAL – Forced 3 wide passing the 1100m when CLASS OF ROYALTY shifted out to obtain the position outside the leader, and raced 3 wide without cover from that point.
 
Race 5: WHITTINGTON @ GRANDVIEW STUD BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 2170M
 
ROCBOLT – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
SIR HUSSON – Slow to begin. When questioned by Stewards regarding the performance, jockey A. Mallyon advised that the gelding proved disappointing over the final 400m. Trainer L. Kelly advised that in light of the performance today, the gelding will now be sent for an immediate spell.
 
MISTER MAGNETIC – Bled from both nostrils. Trainer G. Hutchesson was advised that the gelding will be ineligible to race for a period of 3 months, and prior to racing again must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of Stewards.
 
MOGUL – Raced keenly in the early stages, and passing the 1600m was restrained from the heels of HUSSON’S PRIDE, and then shifted out and raced 3 wide without cover from that point.  
 
TYCOON PLAYER – As the gelding was backing up from its run at the Gold Coast on Friday 17 April 2020, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
Race 6: SIRROMET BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 1515M
 
The start of this race was delayed when OPEN ROAD had to be resaddled upon arriving at the barriers.
 
YABA DABL DOYA – Slow to begin.
 
MEYER – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
PHOENIX FLYER – Raced keenly and resented being restrained approaching the 1300m. Forced 3 wide by GENOA which shifted out passing the 1200m, and then raced without cover in that position from that point.
 
CALABRIA – Slow to begin.
 
OPEN ROAD – Improved onto the heels of ANIMAL INSTINCT passing the 1200m, and had to be eased and shift wider on the track to secure clear running.
 
SIZZLING SUN – Improved onto the heels of MEYER passing the 700m and was eased.  
 
NYMERIA – Slow to begin.
 
SPIRIT OF EDYN – Raced 3 wide with cover from the 1100m.
 
Race 7: CARLTON MID BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 1515M
 
VICTORY DANCE – Held up rounding the home turn. The gelding displaced its tongue-tie in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had bled from one nostril. Trainer T. Pascoe was advised the gelding must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
COMMISSIONER – Improved onto the heels of RERUN approaching the 700m, and had to be restrained. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
PRINCE OF ARRAN – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
GRANDIOSO – Held up for clear running over the final 300m and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
MISS CAVALLO – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
RERUN – Held up rounding the home turn, and was disappointed for a run to the inside of PRINCE OF ARRAN and the outside of POWERING passing the 300m, and then continued to be held up until passing the 100m where it altered course back to the inside of POWERING.
 
POWERING – After being caught 3 wide in a handy position, the gelding was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader passing the 1100m, and continued to race keenly in that position.
 
THE EQUALIZER – Shifted 3 wide to improve after passing the 800m. Crowded for room and eased passing the 100m, and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
BY THE LAW – Began awkwardly. Improved onto the heels of GRANDIOSO approaching the 600m and was eased.
 
Race 8: TAB BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1350M
 
FORTIFICATION – Commenced to overrace passing the 1100m, and had to be restrained from the heels of TZIPORAH and, as a result, shifted wider on the track and raced 3 wide without cover from that point.
 
MOUNTBATTEN – Laid in under pressure over the final 150m.
 
SEENTOOMANY – Slow to begin.
 
MARMARIS – Bumped heavily on jumping and was forced out onto the hindquarters of TZIPORAH and lost ground.
 
ARCHER’S TREASURE – Began awkwardly and shifted out making heavy contact with MARMARIS.
 
GREAT KEPPELL – Inconvenienced by TZIPORAH which was racing ungenerously whilst being restrained and shifted in slightly approaching the 1000m. Held up rounding the home turn. Disappointed for a run passing the 250m between LIABILITY and ARCHER’S TREASURE, and had to shift to the outside of the heels of ARCHER’S TREASURE to secure a narrow run between ARCHER’S TREASURE and TZIPORAH.
 
SHUDA KNOWN BETTER – Bumped LIABILITY heavily on the hindquarters on jumping and, as a result, had to be checked and lost considerable ground.
 
TZIPORAH – Bumped on jumping. Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in a trailing position passing the 1200m.
 
LIABILITY – Began awkwardly and shifted in, and was then bumped on the hindquarters by SHUDA KNOWN BETTER which turned LIABILITY in further and crowded SHUDA KNOWN BETTER.
 
GOLDEN LILY – As G. Colless was to be overweight, Stewards permitted J. Taylor to be substituted as rider. Stewards accepted jockey G. Colless’ explanation regarding his inability to fulfil the engagement. Nevertheless, jockey Colless was advised to not accept rides at a weight which he is unable to fulfil. Slow to begin.  
 
Race 9: QUEENSLAND TIMES BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1100M
 
LONGBOTTOM – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced 3 wide with cover after passing the 700m.
 
REAL CUTE – Crowded for room on jumping between LONGBOTTOM and UNO AMOR and, as a result, lost ground.
 
ZYMATIC – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
CRAB BOY – Held up rounding the home turn. Had difficulty securing clear running approaching the 100m, and raced in restricted room over the final stages.
 
UNO AMOR – Displaced its tongue-tie in the enclosure which had to be refitted upon arriving at the barriers. Laid in for a short distance passing the 300m.
 
ALEJANDRA – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by trainer G. Petersen regarding the late scratching of the mare at 7.50am.
 
Race 10: RAY WHITE IPSWICH CLASS 1 PLATE – 1200M
 
MIGHTY QUINN – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
STARCASTER – Bumped on the hindquarters by SUCH A DRAMA QUEEN shortly after the start. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
MISHANI COURAGE – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping KRAKATOA ERUPTION.
 
KRAKATOA ERUPTION – Bumped heavily on jumping by MISHANI COURAGE.
 
SUCH A DRAMA QUEEN – Hampered on jumping.
 
MISS LUCINDA – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by trainer G. Petersen regarding the late scratching of the filly at 7.50am.
 
INSTANTANEOUS – Blundered of its own accord shortly after the start. When racing in a rearward position near the 900m, was crowded slightly by SUCH A DRAMA QUEEN which was taken in by STARCASTER.
