QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT IPSWICH TURF CLUB IPSWICH – WEDNESDAY 18 NOVEMBER 2020 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – 7 Metres EntirePENETROMETER – 5.3 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – W HadleyStewards – P Zimmerman, L Hicks, A Turner, B McErleanClerk of Scales – P Gillard Judge – C Bamford, M Lincoln Veterinarian – Dr G Silvestri Swab Attendants – A Challen, K Kilpatrick Starter – C Wallace Race 1: IEEC.COM.AU QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1690 metres SOUL DANCER – Change of tactics; to be ridden more forward from an inside barrier. Settled behind the leaders. WAY BEYOND – Slow to begin. VINCIT – Over raced in the early and middle stages. BOLD EXECUTIVE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Race 2: ALL ACCESS HIRE Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Plate 1200 metres The start was delayed when A BIG CHANCE became fractious during the preliminary striking rider S Doyle in the face. After being examined by the QAS rider S Doyle was passed fit to fulfill his engagement. A BIG CHANCE – Raced wide throughout. COME IN SPINNER – Raced wide without cover until passing the 600m. ELGIN – Near the 800m when racing keenly was steadied to avoid the heels of FUNNY LEGS. Carried wider on entering the home straight when bumped by RED RIVER LAD. FUNNY LEGS – Rider B Thompson reported that his mount raced keenly with the addition of blinkers. HISGRACE – Slow to begin. MY BIG BROTHER – Began awkwardly. RED RIVER LAD – Near the 350m was steadied when racing tight between A BIG CHANCE and HISGRACE which both shifted ground. Laid out in the early part of the home straight and shifted out bumping with ELGIN. FASTEST TRIGGER – Near the 800m steadied to avoid the heels of RED RIVER LAD which shifted in marginally. Race 3: QLD STATE FAIR HERE Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate 1200 metres The start was delayed when MY FAVOURITE MODEL required a resaddle. GLENGORMLEY GIRL – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m when racing in restricted room was checked by MY FAVOURITE MODEL (M Cahill) which shifted in before being corrected. Rider M Cahill (MY FAVOURITE MODEL) was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) for permitting his mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear. KANDANGA MISS – Raced wide without cover throughout. MARYLEE – Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Trainer G Dempsey was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners. COLLATERAL JOY – Bounded at the start and lost ground. CROWN WAR – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. Race 4: THOROUGHBREDS SPORTS BAR Class 5 Handicap 1200 metres BOBLEE – Performed below market expectation. Rider R Maloney stated that the gelding was slow to begin however was disappointing. Trainer D Vandyke advised that the gelding would now be spelled. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. BEWARE – Near the 1000m was inconvenienced, bumped heavily, and carried wider on the track by PAY WITH CASH which shifted out abruptly. After being carried wide was then permitted to stride forward and take up a position outside the leader passing the 600m. PAY WITH CASH – Slow to begin. Near the 1000m when the pace steadied, improved to the inside of VOULAIT where there was insufficient room before checking over that gelding’s heels making heavy contact with BEWARE. Over race in the middle stages. From the 800m raced wide without cover. VOULAIT – Near the 1000m when the pace steadied improved onto the heels of INVINCORE and was checked and lost ground. Then continued to over race for some distance when placed close to the heels of INVINCORE. Following the running of the race Rider R Maloney was examined by the QAS and was subsequently stood down for the remainder of his riding engagements. Rider R Maloney was advised he would require a medical certificate prior to the next riding. Race 5: TAB LIVE SKY RACING VISION Class 3 Plate 1690 metres ARUBA – Raced wide without cover throughout. ROYAL SHEEN – Performed below market expectation. Apprentice J Huxtable stated that the gelding failed to finish the event off, in his opinion would be better suited over shorter distances than today’s event. He further added that in the home straight the gelding laid out noticeably. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery, thumps, and mild nasal discharge. DIVINE DIVA – (Beaten favourite $1.65) Rider M Cahill reported that in his opinion the mare would be better suited over distances further than todays event and may not have appreciated the Good 4 surface today, however stewards noted it had previously performed on a Good 3 surface. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. A swab sample was taken for analysis. FLIRTY MCCOY – Compounded from the 600m and eased down in the home straight. Trainer D Lane was advised that the mare was now suspended from racing at metropolitan meetings. Race 6: RIVER 94.9FM BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1100 metres COLPO DI TAMBURO – Near the 700m began to over race. REAL CUTE – Checked at the start and lost ground between DIGGITY and REMEMBER MARY which shifted out. REMEMBER MARY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Apprentice G Cartwright reported that her mount hung out near the 600m. HAIL MANHATTAN – Began awkwardly. Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn. ROUND MOUNTAIN GEM – Checked at the start and lost ground between COLPO DI TAMBURO and HAIL MANHATTAN which shifted out. DREAMALINA – Began awkwardly. Race 7: GRANDVIEW STUD BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 2190 metres BARITONE - After being placed in the barriers, became fractious and reared resulting in Rider R Fradd being contacted in the face. BARITONE underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start, however as rider R Fradd was unsuitable to fulfill his engagement. BARITONE was declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 4:49pm.Trainer S Kendrick was advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. Rider R Fradd was examined by QAS officers and passed unsuitable to fulfil his remaining engagements. R Fradd was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to riding again. All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on the late scratching to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets #2 SUGAR BUZZ – 7 centsPlace Bets (For Winner) – 8centsPlace Bets #6 I COULD DO BETTER (For 2nd) – 6 centsPlace Bets #7 SAME OLD (For 3rd) – 10 cents *All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket. SCHAPPOSE – Raced wide without cover until passing the 1500m MARAKOPA – Performed below market expectation. Rider M Cahill stated that the gelding was not suited to todays strong tempo throughout the event and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. CALL ME LEGEND – Change of tactics; to be ridden forward from a wide draw and increase in distance. Began awkwardly and lost ground and as a result settled at the rear. BADGE OF GAMENESS – Trainer D Lane advised Stewards that the gelding would now be restricted to provincial races and have its runs spaced. Race 8: BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT Class 3 Handicap 1350 metres The start was delayed when M Hellyer the replacement rider for INDIAN DREAMER was delayed in weighing out. There was a further delay when THE HAND proved difficult to load. INDIAN DREAMER – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up near the 300m behind KASITA. THE HAND – Difficult to load. Trainer M Boland was advised that the gelding would be required to barrier trial prior to next racing. PRINCESS KAYO – Slow to begin. KASITA – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
