GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 4, No. 9 – BUTCH ‘N’ BUGS – S. Galloway +0.5kg (54.5kg)
Race 7, No. 22 – AYNAT – J. Stanley +1kg (55kg)
 
When K. Mathieson was indisposed due to illness, Stewards permitted the following rider changes. K. Mathieson was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to racing again.
Race 8, No. 2 BRONZE DRAGON – Apprentice C. Graham (non-claiming apprentice)
Race 9, No. 8 PARUES – S. Collett
 
The running of each race was delayed due to storm activity in the area prior to the first race. Race 1 was scheduled to run at 12:30pm, with all remaining races put back two time slots. Race 8 was scheduled for 4:22pm and Race 9 at 4:52pm.
 
Following the running of race 4, Apprentice C. Graham was indisposed due to illness. Apprentice Graham was advised that a medical clearance is required prior to race-riding again. Stewards permitted the following rider changes:
Race 7, No. 3 THIS IS THE PING – Apprentice B. Wheeler
Race 8, No. 2 BRONZE DRAGON – Apprentice B. Wheeler
 
 
Race 1: FOLLOW SOCIALS @IPSWICHTURFCLUB QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP (800m)
 
MISHANI BURN – Slow to begin. Rider L. Tarrant reported the gelding failed to handle the rain-affected track conditions. Directed wider entering the home straight. Laid out under pressure from inside the 150m.
 
SIDLED – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
SHE'S GOT IT – Late scratching on veterinary advice at 9:38am. Trainer L. Wanless was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.
 
SWEET CANDY – Blundered on jumping.
 
MISHANI CROWN – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Laid-out rounding the home-turn.
 
 
Race 2: BUNDAMBA BEACH PARTY RACEDAY 6 JANUARY CLASS 3 HANDICAP (800m)
 
CLOVER'S PRINCE – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
RIVER DANZKA – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held-up for clear running over the concluding stages and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
RUSSIAN DIVA – Began only fairly.
 
FLYING RUPERT – Lost the near-hind plate in running. When asked to comment on the improved performance, Trainer D. Bell stated that the gelding was having its first start for his stable and he had expected a forward showing, particularly with the gelding’s previous heavy track form.
 
BONGANI – Lost its near-fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN PLATE (800m)
 
BIZ CLASS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after being fractious in the barriers and passed fit to start.
 
BRAVE SAILOR – Began awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Laid-out rounding the home turn.
 
I AM AMAZES – Bumped on jumping.
 
STARSPANGLE PLANET – Tightened for room approaching the 350m between BRAVE SOLDIER and I AM AMAZES.
 
VIGANOTTO – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious during transport and passed fit to start. Became very awkwardly placed on heels rounding the home-turn when attempting to improve between the weakening GODDESS OFTHE MOON and I AM AMAZES.
 
COOROI HEIGHTS – Began awkwardly.
 
LA DEMOISELLE – Slow to begin. When following VIGANOTTO which was steadied approaching the 350m, was obliged to check from heels. Held-up for clear running passing the 200m and obliged to be shifted across heels to obtain clear running.
 
PRINCESS LUTETIA – Began awkwardly and contacted I AM AMAZES. Tightened for room approaching the 350m.
 
GODDESS OFTHE MOON – Tightened for room approaching the 450m when racing tight to the inside of BIZ CLASS.
 
LOOK IT'S LUCY - Tightened for room approaching the 450m when racing to the inside of GODDESS OF THE MOON which was being tightened by BIZ CLASS.
 
 
Race 4: TAB OPEN HANDICAP (1350m)
 
LONDON BANKER (NZ) – Slow to begin before being shifted by runners in the early stages.

SEA RAIDER – Forced wider rounding the home-turn when AZZAREACH hung-out.
 
TARA JASMINE – Slow to begin.
 
AZZAREACH – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Hung-out throughout the event particularly from the 400m. Bumped BUTCH’N’BUGS approaching the 100m.
 
AMERICAN PRESIDENT – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Hung-out throughout the event, before commencing to race very wide from the 600m and took no further competitive part in the event from the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-hindleg. Co-trainer A. Simpson was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the next start. Furthermore, due to the gelding’s recent history of poor racing manners, Co-trainer A. Simpson was advised that the gelding would be required to complete two consecutive trials prior to racing again.
 
BUTCH'N'BUGS – Bumped approaching the 100m when AZZAREACH hung-out. Forced wider rounding the home-turn when AZZAREACH hung-out.
 
 
Race 5: BARRIER REEF POOLS CLASS 5 HANDICAP (1100m)
 
The start of this race was delayed when SERIGALA proved difficult to load.
 
AIR MARSHAL – Rider J. Orman reported the gelding was not suited by the heavy track conditions.
 
JAMAICAN RUMBA – Hung-out rounding the home-turn.
 
SKIDDAW – Began awkwardly. Rider L. Tarrant reported the gelding put in an awkward stride upon entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SERIGALA – Proved difficult to load. Trainer T. Cowan was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s record. Mr Cowan advised the mare would now be sent for a spell. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event.
 
 
 
Race 6: IEEC.COM.AU RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP (1700m)
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing Rider M. Hellyer (PAPAL MISS) to view the photo-finish for first. Once satisfied, correct weight was declared on the Judges’ semaphored numbers.
 
DOUBLE QUICK – Began awkwardly and bumped.
 
THE KHAN (NZ) – Late scratching at 1:12pm due to the track downgrade.
 
FLEETING CHANCE – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, Trainer K. Schweida stated that in the gelding’s previous starts, it had been unable to obtain a forward position, and in his opinion, performs best when able to dictate in the lead as it was able to do so in this event.  
 
SILVER ONYX – Performed below market expectations. Rider A. Mallyon reported the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
PAPAL MISS – Slow to begin. Raced wide and without cover from the 700m.

MADAM MAGNOLIA – Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained to obtain a position with cover.

CONTESSA NILE – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide and without cover from the 700m.
 
BRIEF SOJOURN – Stewards permitted the gelding to race without pacifiers due to the Heavy 10 track conditions. Reshod when shifting its near-foreleg plate prior to entering the mounting yard.

EAST ESPLANADE – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 7: SIRROMET MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200m)
 
THIS IS THE PING – Slow to begin. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious during transport to the course and passed fit to start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered bilateral epistaxis from both nostrils for the first occasion. Trainer L. White was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).
 
MR DOLLAR – Slow to begin.

ON THE TIGHTROPE – Began awkwardly.
 
MIANDA – Shortly after the start became awkwardly placed in restricted room.
 
DANCE BABE – Laid in rounding the home-turn and became awkward in its action for a short distance. A post-race veterinary revealed the filly to be displaying mild signs of the thumps and a poor-post race recovery.
 
I AM PEARL – Began awkwardly. Laid-out under pressure in the home straight.
 
OUR ECEE – Late Scratching at 12:47pm due to the track downgrade.
 
 
Race 8: SCHWEPPES CLASS 1 PLATE (1350m)
 
The start of the event was delayed to hold for an interstate event.
 
BACK 'EM BLACK – Bumped on jumping. Held-up for clear running rounding the home-turn until the 200m.
 
BRONZE DRAGON – Raced wide and without cover until the 800m when restrained to the tail of the field to obtain a position with cover.
 
RECANATI – Rider A. Jones stated the gelding failed to travel at any stage throughout the event due to the heavy track conditions.
 
SO YOU KNEW – Bumped and forced wider by GLEEFILLY which shifted out approaching the 450m and forced wider thereafter.
 
PRIVATE TENDER – Late scratching at 12:18pm due to the track downgrade.
 
FRENCH STEP – Began awkwardly and bumped. Unable to obtain clear running passing the 350m for a short distance thereafter.
 
GLEEFILLY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have lost both front plates and its off-hind plate in running. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Near the 450m shifted out in an attempt to improve and in doing so made contact with SO YOU KNEW.
 
VANCITY - Forced wider from the 450m.
 
QUEST OF QUESTS – Began awkwardly and bumped. Held-up for clear running from the 500m until the 250m. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
 
Race 9: ITC WISHES YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP (1350m)
 
DARCHINIAN - Late Scratching at 1:13pm due to the track downgrade.
 
STEP ON FIRE – Slow to begin before blundering. Raced wide and without cover from the 600m.
 
HUMAN TOUCH – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Apprentice J. Molloy stated the mare’s saddle shifted back during the event. He further added the mare weakened badly from the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer P. Nolan Jnr was advised to provide a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
MARCADA – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
STEAL THE FIELD – Began awkwardly and contacted MANTINELLO.
 
MANTINELLO – Began awkwardly and contacted when STEAL THE FIELD shifted out.
 
HERECUM DA DRUMS – Stewards permitted Apprentice B. Wheeler to be declared the replacement rider when C. Bayliss when he failed to arrive on cours. Rider C. Bayliss was reprimanded under AR127(1) for failing to fulfill an engagement when engaged to do so.
