MISS REILLY – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

CASSETTE (NZ) – Steadied when racing in restricted room approaching the winning post when SHE’S GOT LYRICS (E. Lang) shifted out. Apprentice E. Lang was advised to exercise greater care.

Race 3: RIVER 94.9FM COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE  1350M

BIT OF GRUNT – Raced keenly in the early stages and near the 1100m, shifted out away from heels of BOOMROUX, hampering LOCH AWE. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and near the 100m, steadied from the heels of PIMPERNEL, which shifted out when racing greenly.

CELTIC PRIDE – Began awkwardly. Rider L. Miller was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(c) for using the whip on his mount when clearly out of contention.

ELROY – Began awkwardly and then bumped. Near the 1000m, steadied when tightened by ZINOTAR, which was taken in by PIERRE CARDINNIGAN (R. Dolan), which shifted in when not clear. Rider R. Dolan was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.

BOW TIE AFFAIR – Laid out rounding the home turn. When racing greenly near the 150m, momentarily steadied from the heels of PRADO (K. Zechner), which shifted out when not clear. Rider K. Zechner was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. Rider R. Stewart reported the gelding raced greenly and would be better suited with the addition of blinkers.

METCALFE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

PRADO – Slow to begin.

WORTH AVENUE – Rider R. Dolan reported his mount made the home turn awkwardly and would be better suited with the addition of blinkers. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

HELLO IN THERE – Held up at the heels of RED STAR RUBI rounding the home turn.

Race 5: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP  2150M

The start of this race was effected manually.

GRIPPING – Near the 250m, tightened for room between CEREMONIOUS and SMOOTH TORQUE (J. Bayliss), which shifted out. Rider J. Bayliss pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 250m, he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of GRIPPING resulting in that runner being tightened onto CEREMONIOUS and eased. Rider J. Bayliss’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight the 7th of December 2024 and to expire midnight the 16th of December 2024. In determining penalty, account was taken of J. Bayliss’ record in relation to this rule, his guilty plea and the QRIC careless riding guidelines.

CEREMONIOUS (NZ) – Change of tactics; to be further back. Settled worse than midfield. Passing the 300m, steadied when disappointed for a run between GRIPPING and JUNGLE JET; and then had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 100m.

VICTORY COMMAND (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. Carried wider rounding the home turn.

HALLSIDE MARTINI – Slow to begin.

BITOFTHEBLARNEY (NZ) – Near the 800m, checked for a number of strides and blundered after improving onto the heels of ACES UP, which was steadied to a position with cover behind TWISTED MISTRESS (J. Taylor), which was commencing to shift in. Whilst the Stewards acknowledged that BITOFTHEBLARNEY improved onto the heels of ACES UP, nonetheless rider J. Taylor was notified he must leave sufficient clearance when crossing other runners.

JUNGLE JET (NZ) – Laid out rounding the home turn, carrying NEW WORLD TAPESTRY and VICTORY COMMAND wider.

ACES UP (NZ) – Raced wide until leaving the 1500m. Jockey S. Collett reported the gelding had no issues in running but has recommended a drop back in distance for its future starts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

NEW WORLD TAPESTRY (USA) – Shifted out at the start and bumped VICTORY COMMAND. Carried wider rounding the home turn.

TWISTED MISTRESS – Raced wide until leaving the 1500m.

NITROGLYCERINE – Slow to begin.

Race 6: TAB BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP  1200M

The start of this race was effected manually.

The Stewards along with rider A. Jones reviewed the patrol footage of the start and were of the view the cause of GIVE GIGGLES not jumping with the field was due to the mare’s own behaviour in the gates.

ROLL UP – When questioned, apprentice J. Franklin reported he considered shifting to the inside of TELLEZ approaching the 200m but was unsure if he was clear to do so, so he elected to come out, however; then was unable to find clear running and went to the end of the race without being tested. Apprentice Franklin conceded after seeing the film of the race, he should’ve continued to shift to the rail for clear running rather than coming to the outside of TELLEZ.

GIVE GIGGLES (NZ) – Just prior to the start being effected, the mare put its head down and when the gates opened, began awkwardly and lost considerable ground.

MAGNUS BELLAGIO – From the wide gate, settled in a rearward position.

CELESTIAL SOL – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn.

ONE 'N' ONLY – Laid out rounding the home turn.

TARPS – Over raced in the early and middle stages.

MILTON ROAD (NZ) – Laid out rounding the home turn.

TELLEZ (NZ) – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

OVER 'N' OUT – Tightened shortly after the start when MILTON ROAD shifted out. When questioned regarding her riding in the early part of the home straight, rider S. Collett advised her instructions were to race in a rearward position and not go wide around the home turn. She said that rounding the home turn, she remained to the inside and after the 300m, shifted out to a run between APRIL IN AUGUSTA and CELESTIAL SOL adding as the mare carries her head in a high position, she waited until being sure she had clear running to apply hard pressure to the mare.

SURREAL ASCOT – Reared at the start and lost ground.

Race 7: VALE BILL HALL CLASS 4 HANDICAP  1350M

The start of this race was effected manually.

MAJESTIC BOOM – Raced wide without cover in the early stages.

EXCEED SPEED – Laid in rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.

HUSS ON FIRST– Eased down from the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer P. Minter was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance, inclusive of results of an ECG and would also require a cardiac auscultation performed by a veterinarian following a gallop, trial or jump out of 1000m to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
