QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT JULIA CREEK TURF CLUB JULIA CREEK – SATURDAY 23rd April 2022 WEATHER – OVERCAST (Windy) TRACK RATING – DIRT (Good) RAIL – IN TRUE POSITION OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P LaneSteward – P WarrenClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – B ClimieVeterinarian/Sample Collection Officer – V Slack-SmithStarter – C Fitchett GENERAL Race 1. MCKINLAY SHIRE COUNCIL MAIDEN PLATE 1100m THE APPOINTED TIME – Shifted out on jumping, inconveniencing MADAME TESS. Raced wide from the 600m. MADAME TESS – Inconvenienced on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. OUTDARE – Slow to muster pace in the early stages. Trailed the field throughout. HOPE AS ALWAYS – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Jockey W D’Avila accidentally dropped his whip near the 250m. SOLVUS - Raced wide for the majority. Race 2. MARWILL / DAIKIN BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1100m FINGERTIPS – Shifted out on jumping inconveniencing runners to its outside. DAL BERGIA – Inconvenienced on jumping. NITRO CITY – Fractious in the barrier. Tightened between runners on jumping. Restrained to avoid heels near the 800m. Raced wide for the majority. MAHKOTA ROSE – After dwelling on jumping was severely tightened between runners losing significant ground. Shifted wider soon after to avoid the kickback in running, and took no further competitive part in the event. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards took no action against the mare in consideration of the severe interference suffered in the initial stages of the race. PURE RUBICK – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority. SUN LILY – Eased near the 1000m when crossed by another runner. Raced wide for the majority. Race 3.FINDLEY FARMS OPEN HANDICAP 1100m WORLD OF PAIN – Underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection and was cleared to start. TANGO RAIN – Fractious on leaving the parade yard, dislodging App K Lenton who was uninjured. Hacked around, riderless, to the barriers and was quickly apprehended. Underwent a Veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Again became fractious prior to loading and following a 2nd Veterinary examination was cleared to start. Was slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Came together with GRAND SYMPHONY soon after jumping. Shifted wider near the 700m in an effort to avoid the kickback in running. Failed to run on over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Connections, who advised they would now consider TANGO RAIN’S racing future, were nonetheless advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners. SAFDIE – Began awkwardly. GRAND SYMPHONY – Slowly away. KAPSET – Knuckled over on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. Race 4. MULTICOM ARTESIAN EXPRESS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200m ROCKSTAR DREAMS – Began awkwardly resulting in App J Doolan’s right foot being crushed against the inside upright. App Doolan, who declared herself fit to continue, was examined by QAS Officers post-race and found to have sustained soft tissue damage in this incident. She was advised a medical clearance would be required prior to her next race ride. Was inconvenienced soon after jumping. App Doolan reported the mare hung out rounding the 1st turn due to the kickback in running, carrying RED RED ROSE and THE NIGHT TRAIN wider. POWER STATION – Trailed the field for the majority of the race, performing below market expectations. Jockey J Felix reported the gelding was reluctant to stretch out in the early and middle stages due to the kickback in running. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. CATO – Shifted in on jumping inconveniencing ROCKSTAR DREAMS. WORDS UNSPOKEN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. THE NIGHT TRAIN – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. MACKELLAR’S VOICE - Raced wide for the majority. Race 5. WELLING & CROSSLEY QTIS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1350m FA FA – Inconvenienced on jumping. MYOLA MILLY - Raced wide for the majority. MACKELLAR’S VOICE - Raced wide for the majority. BOLD SAM - Raced wide for the majority. WOTS WONG – Trailed the field throughout. Jockey W D’Avila reported the gelding was reluctant to stretch out in running. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off foreleg.
