HendersonJockeys Advocate – G. SmithStewards Secretary – P. CareyUpon arrival at 10.15 am stewards inspected the track and were concerned with a section approaching the winning post where a conduit trench had been laid recently. Stewards consulted with club officials to establish if further work could be performed to ensure that this section of track could be made safe prior to Race 1. Stewards waited until jockeys arrived on course to enable a further inspection to be performed in their presence. A delegation of jockeys raised safety concerns with this particular section of the track. Stewards agreed that this section of track was not satisfactory for racing given its proximity to the winning post, and therefore abandoned the race meeting at 11.45 am. Stewards will forward a report to Racing Queensland’s Facility’s management concerning the circumstances surrounding today’s decision. *************************************
