General: As App J Hodge was not passed fit to ride at this meeting, changes were made as per the race day summary sheet.


RACE 1: CLASS B HDCP 800 Metres

VISONA RED – slow to begin.

DANYSUS – had to be steadied near the 300 metres after improving to the inside of another runner which then shifted in.

CHILLI DIPPER – shifted in and hampered DANYSUS near 300 metres. App C Bayliss advised to exercise more care.

LORD EARLSTOUN – raced wide throughout.

MISS ALEXANDRA – began awkwardly and then held up and unable to improve from the 400 metres until inside the 100 metres.

HUSSY ROCKSTAR – when questioned I Coombes stated after being slow to begin was unable to go the fast early speed however finished the race off strongly and his opinion is better suited in races over a longer distance.

EVERINGHAM – raced wide throughout. Sustained cut near to side shoulder on return to placegetters stall.

RACE 2: MAIDEN PLATE 1200 Metres

Correct weight was delayed to allow App M Schrapel, rider of 4th placegetter HIGHTOWER , to video photo finish image for 3rd. After doing so correct weight was declared on the semaphored placings

SCILLION – checked near 400 metres.

HIGHTOWER – slow to begin. Restrained off heels near the 900 metres when the pace eased.

VEGANER – prior to the event trainer B Robinson advised stewards instructions would be to ride the gelding more forward today. A public announcement was made to this effect, and the horse was ridden accordingly. Tightened for room near 1000 metres. When questioned regarding below market performance rider J Hoopert stated VEGANER travelled well to the 500 metres, however when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post race Vet examination did not reveal any abnormality.

DIAMONDINE – jumped in at the start and made heavy contact with another runner.

PRINCESS SIDEREUS – jumped out at the start and made heavy contact with another runner. Shifted in near 1000 metres and momentarily tightened another runner. App M Savva pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under AR137a in that near the 400 metres she made insufficient effort to prevent her mount shifting in resulting in VEGANER being taken in across the running of SCILLION which was obliged to check and lose its position. M Savva was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 25th June up to and including midnight 3rd July 2016.



RACE 3: BENCHMARK 50 HDCP 1200 Metres

DEPUTY PECK – raced wide throughout.
SNITZIOLA – began awkwardly. At scale App M Schrapel reported the gelding was inclined to hang out at various stages of the event. A post race vet examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
FAST TRACK – checked at start when another runner jumped outwards. Near the 900 metres App S Lacey was struck in the face by a clod of dirt placing her at a distinct disadvantage and being unable to ride her mount competitively for the remainder of the event. S Lacey was subsequently treated by QAS medical staff and transported to Kilcoy hospital. App Lacey will require a medical certificate before resuming race riding.
GENERAL KINGSMAN – jumped out at the start and checked another runner.
LITTLE MISS MOLLY – checked near 1000metres.
CAUGHT A CRACKER – App S Alam pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137a in that near the 1000 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of LITTLE MISS MOLLY which had to check and lose its position. App Alam was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 18th June up to and including midnight 26th June 2016.
PAGOH – attempted to buck for a short distance after the start. After hearing submissions from rider J Hoopert that he ridden in spurs and dug the horse up at that point, and further that trainer K Hill would be instructing that spurs not be used on the horse in future, stewards placed a warning on the racing manners of PAGOH.

RACE 4: BENCHMARK 60 HDCP KILCOY CUP 1500 Metres

The start of this event was delayed approx. 15 minutes to await a replacement ambulance.

OUR CLARKY – when questioned regarding the below market performance, App A Spinks stated the gelding settled well behind the leader however when the pace quickened from the 600 metres did not respond when placed under pressure and his opinion had not backed up from its last start at Gayndah 7 days ago.

CHEEKYBOI – raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.

OUR PLAYDOUGH – contacted the running rail near the 1000 metres.


RACE 5: BENCHMARK 55 HDCP 1900 Metres

HORS LA ROI – rider reported at scale was inclined to lay in at various stages of the event.

RED BERETTA – rider L Appo was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in and tightening BLAZING INFERNO near 1300 metres.

BLAZING INFERNO – tightened and lost ground near 1300 metres.

HELLO HARRA – raced wide early stages of the event. App C Bayliss was reminded of his obligations under AR137A(4)(c) regarding use of whip on a horse out of contention.

HUSSY FIVE OH – slow to begin.
