QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT KILCOY RACE CLUB THURDAY 10TH OCTOBER 2024 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Heavy 8, Heavy 9 after Race 3 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R HansonStewards – P Zimmerman, K Daly, A Schofield, S Fletcher GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweight at today’s meeting:Race 2: DIVINE CHARM – M Hellyer 55kg (+1kg) Trainer G Cornish was reprimanded under LR68(1) for failing to scratch BELLE’S BOY from its engagement in Race 6 by the prescribed time. Race 1: BART SINCLAIR OAM MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M WHITTAKER – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn. DARLING HEART – Laid out rounding the home turn. ELEMISS – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. WEATHER – Passing the 100m, steadied from heels when disappointed for a run between DARLING HEART and GLAD DOG ROLL (G Cartwright) which shifted out under pressure. As a consequence WEATHER was then obliged to shift out across heels to secure clear running. G Cartwright was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. When asked to comment on the performance rider J Metcalfe reported WEATHER was not suited by the tight turning track. PRINCESS LUTETIA – When asked to comment on the performance rider R Thorburn reported the mare was not suited by today’s step up in distance nor the prevailing track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 2: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1900 M THAT KISS – Raced keenly in the early stages of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. DIVINE CHARM – Dropped its head as the start was effected and as a result was slow to begin and lost ground. KURABENII – Rider P Carter reported that she made contact with the near side gate on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. Rider P Carter reported the gelding over-raced for the majority of the event and this resulted in KURABENII weakening from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an upper respiratory condition. Trainer D Gafa was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of a satisfactory endoscopic report prior to racing again. Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO BM58 HANDICAP 1900 MGOLD PRINCE – Slow to begin.EMBOLDEN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. GIDDY GAN'S JOY – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. MADALSA – Rider C Lowe reported in her opinion the mare did not handle today’s heavy track conditions.CHIEF COMMAND – Slow to begin. Passing the 600m improved onto the heels of the tiring MATSUYAMA and was hampered. BEAN ALL OVA – Apprentice J Metcalfe, rider of BEAN ALL OVA, in the presence of master Mr W Nugent and Racing Qld apprentice mentor Mr R Fradd, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR129(2) in that she failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure BEAN ALL OVA obtained the best possible place in the field in that she fully pressured the mare down the home straight on the first occasion after misjudging the distance of the event. The licence of apprentice Metcalfe to ride in races was suspended for a period of 5 weeks to commence midnight 19th October up to and including midnight 23rd November 2024. JUMEIRAH TRIANGLE – Near the 400m raced in restricted room to the inside of SKYLON which was taken in by EMBOLDEN (M Hellyer). M Hellyer was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Heavy 9. Race 4: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL BM60 HANDICAP 1200 M VOULAIT – Blundered on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a respiratory issue. Trainer M Hemmings was advised VOULAIT would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of a satisfactory endoscopic examination prior to its next race start. IT'S HELLS BELLS – Slow to begin. GERRYMANDER – Raced wide throughout the event. FLICK – Held up rounding the home turn and the majority of the home straight. BEAN ROCKING – Approaching the 100m brushed with GERRYMANDER after improving to its inside. Race 5: LADBROKES RACING CLUB BM62 HANDICAP 1500 M SCOTTISH PRINCE – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. UNION SPIRIT – Raced wide for the majority of the event. CRYPTO CURRENCY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. WHEN DOVES FLY – Raced wide for the majority of the event. FLASH ZARIZ – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration the off hind leg. Lost off hind plate in running. Race 6: SEARLES GARDEN PRODUCTS 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1500 M IL TORO D'ORO – Crowded for room and had to be checked near the 400m. At a subsequent inquiry apprentice J Busuttin, rider of MASTER DRUMMER, in the presence of Racing Qld apprentice mentor Mr R Fradd and master Mr P Busuttin, pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that she made insufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in near the 400m resulting in GLEEFILLY being inconvenienced and taken in crowding the room of IL TORO D’ORO which had to be checked. The licence of J Busuttin to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 12th October up to and including midnight 20th October 2024.When asked to comment on the performance rider J Molloy advised in his opinion the gelding was not suited by today’s heavy track conditions.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. SING A RAINBOW – Made the turn out of the home straight very awkwardly, shifted out and lost ground. MASTER DRUMER – Slow to begin. ISLA'S DAY – Passing the 1200m steadied from heels when over-racing. GLEEFILLY – Crowded between runners shortly after the start and had to be steadied. Taken in and inconvenienced near the 400m. EL KABONG – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 7: LADBROKES BET TICKER 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1200 M BRECHEN – Raced wide for the majority of the event. BOOMI'S BUDDY – Taken wider rounding the home turn when EYE WANTED laid out. JAFUBOY – Hung in near the 400m and again at the entrance to the home straight.Raced wide for the majority of the event. EYE WANTED – Laid out rounding the home turn. MAPLE MAGIC – Slow to begin. Laid in for the majority of the event and in doing so made heavy contact with the running rail near the 900m. HOLY TROJAN – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
