Jockey R. Payne was fined $300 under the provisions AR190(3) for accepting multiple rides when overweight. Jockey R. Payne was originally granted permission by stewards to ride ONLY EMMA and NECESSITAS (NZ) 2kg over their allocated weight at time of acceptances, however after arriving on course, it was then understood that Jockey Payne was further overweight than previously allowed.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, after reviewing the stewards patrol footage, Jockey D. Simmons, the rider of MISHANI PATRIOT, placed 2nd by the judge, lodged an objection against first place getter, MIDNIGHT BOOM, ridden by Apprentice J. Doolan, for alleged interference near the 900m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the footage, it was established that near the 900m, MIDNIGHT BOOM had been carried in onto MISHANI PATRIOT after receiving pressure from its outside by NALSSENDORI, which had shifted in, resulting in MISHANI PATRIOT having to check and steady to avoid heels before making contact with the inside running rail. Stewards could not be satisfied that the interference had been caused by MIDNIGHT BOOM and as such, dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the judge’s placings 6 (MIDNIGHT BOOM) – 2 (MISHANI PATRIOT) – 3 (NALSSENDORI) – 4 (MOTORED).

HE’Z TITILLATING – Bumped by NALSSENDORI near the 350m.

MISHANI PATRIOT – Jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 900m, had to check to avoid the heels of MIDNIGHT BOOM which had been carried in by NALSSENDORI. Apprentice Jockey T. Leslight, the rider of NALSSENDORI, was found guilty of careless riding under AR131(a) in that approaching the 900m, he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear, forcing MIDNIGHT BOOM in onto MISHANI PATRIOT, resulting in that runner having to check to avoid heels before making contact with the inside running rail. Apprentice Leslight’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 18/06/2022 and to conclude midnight 26/06/2022.

NALSSENDORI – Approaching the 900m, shifted in carrying in MIDNIGHT BOOM. Laid in when entering the home straight, bumping HE’Z TITILLATING.
