QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MIDDLEMOUNT RACE CLUB INC30 JULY 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Dirt RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – S LarkinsStewards – C AllisonClerk of Scales – Stewards Judge – D MarstonVeterinarian – Drs Alan Guilfoyle & Briony Brooks Starter – John McLellan Race 1: McMAHON CONTRACTORS PTY LTB CLASS B HANDICAP 1000 metres The start was delayed due to a barrier malfunction having to be rectified prior to the runners leaving the mounting yard. Due to the delay, leniency was extended to runners that were fractious prior to the start. MILITARY GHOST – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to not racing within the previous 12 months and was cleared to start. Tightened for room soon after the start. FIERY EXCHANGE – Fractious before the start. CINDERELLA MAN – Fractious before the start. CHATILLY – Shifted inwards after the start tightening MILITARY GHOST in onto TISAYAC. TISAYAC – Tightened for room soon after the start. Race 2: CENTURION BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 metres SHIGERU MAHOGANY – Laid in racing around the 800m turn. Tightened racing around the 800m turn. SCENIC SIGHT – Rider Tyler Leslight reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding around the first turn near the 800m, for tightening SHIGERU MAHOGANY in onto GODFATHER’S GIRL, which in turn tightened and checked. MY BOY SAM – Slow to begin. GODFATHER’S GIRL – Raced keenly early when being restrained to obtain cover. Tightened and checked racing around the 800m turn. Race 3: ISAAC REGIONAL COUNCIL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 metres TURF EDITION – Shifted in abruptly soon after the start checking DIAMOND VICTORY. DIAMOND VICTORY – Checked soon after the start. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. LOONEY TUNES – Rider Tyler Leslight was granted permission to ride the filly at the declared weight to allow him to utilise a saddle of suitable size given the horses previous poor manners. Slow to begin. Race 4: HD MINING GRAEME ACTON MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP 1475 metres TRUST IN ALOHA – Slow to begin. RUFFIN’ IT – Three wide throughout. PERSAGA – Slow to begin. Race 5: NEPEAN CONVEYORS MIDDLEMOUNT CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1475 metresSPRING CREEK – Rider Mark Barnham explained that the mare lost contact with the main body of the field in the early stages despite his desires and then commenced to travel into the race from the 400m. he further added that todays racing pattern is consistent with SPRING CREEK’S most recent start and the mare would likely be better suited over longer distances.
