Woodham Stewards Secretary - Mr B. Palmer SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT: Townsville, Thursday 13th October 2016 Race 7: Townsville Yacht Club Class 2 HandicapFollowing the race stewards sought an explanation from Jockey G. Kliese for the seemingly disappointing performance of BRAVE BOW. Jockey Kliese stated that he had been instructed to settle the gelding off the pace, with the intention of ensuring that it was able to run out the distance. He said further that he was able to comply with those instructions and, whilst the gelding had improved into the race from the 600 metres, on straightening BRAVE BOW commenced to weaken. Trainer Mr E. Sewell confirmed the instructions given to Jockey Kliese and was of the opinion that the horse was not suited by races over further than 1200 metres and he would ensure that at its future starts he envisaged the gelding will be ridden positively. Mr Sewell said that BRAVE BOW pulled up well and his intention is to start the horse in what he considers to be a more suitable race, at Townsville on Saturday, 22nd October. Stewards reminded Mr Sewell of the provisions of A.R. 135A with regard to any intended change of riding tactics. ------------ Race 1: Mackay State High School QTIS 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 1100 metres 1st - FABULOUS CHILD 2nd - GIDGEE COALS 3rd - REALLY ROCKETS 4th - BAYSIDE BANDITBAYSIDE BANDIT - Was standing awkwardly when the start was effected and was slow to begin.
