Conway Stewards Secretary Mr B. Palmer RACE 1: MCDONALDS MURPHY MACHINERY MAIDEN HHCAP 1200M REAL LUCKY - Slow to begin. Shifted wider to improve leaving the 600m and raced wide from that point on. SIEGE OF ENNIS - Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race. AL MAH ROCKET - Slow to begin. Hung out rounding the home turn and compounded in the home straight. LENNON'S PADDOCK - Raced ungenerously in the early stages. When the pace slackened near the 600m improved onto heels and had to be checked. MORE THAN KALOOKAN - Improved onto heels near the 600m and had to be steadied. MOSS PRINCESS - When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer D. Johnston stated that in his opinion the mare has not appreciated the firmer tracks at it previous two starts and was more comfortable on todayys softer surface. He further added a tail chain was added to the horses gear for todayys race and the mare was not supported by the stable for todayys event.. RACE 2: CGE CABLE TERMINATIONS QTIS 3YO BENCHMARK 60 HHCAP 1200M STYLISH CRIMINAL - Slow to begin. JUSTALAD - Slow to begin. Hampered near the 150m and shifted wider. Rider J. Stanley was dislodged from his mount after passing the winning post. Jockey Stanley was examined by the ambulance officers and cleared of any injuries and was able to fulfil his further engagements. STARENAA - Threw its head in the air shortly after the start and lost ground. Hampered near the 150m and shifted wider. Raced wide for the majority of the race. TIME FOR LILLI - Began awkwardly, shifted out and had to be steadied from heels. Was inconvenienced by another runner near the 150m and shifted wider. LEND ME A TENNER - Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race. CSARDAS >- Apprentice E. Smith pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that near the 200m she permitted her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of TIME FOR LILLI (N. Day), which had to bee restrained and forced wider, resulting in both JUSTALAD (J. Stanley) and STARENA (L. Dodds) being forced wider. Apprentice Smith's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 14 October 2017 and to expire midnight 22 October 2017. RACE 3: SCHNEIDER CLIPSAL ELECTRICAL RATINGS BAND 0 60 HHCAP 1100M The start was delayed when CAPTAIN ADRIATIC shifted its near hind plate requiring farrier attention. The start was further delayed when, LIKER, SNAKE FARLEY and CAPTAIN ADRIATIC became fractious in the barriers and were declared late scratchings.. >LIKER - The mare was declared a late scratching at 1.55 p.m. by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice after becoming fractious in the barriers. SNAKE FARLEY - Was declared a late scratching at 1.55 by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice after becoming fractious in the barriers. CAPTAIN ADRIATIC - Was declared a late scratching at 1.55 p.m. by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice after becoming fractious in the barriers. After hearing submissions from all parties, stewards were satisfied that LIKER and CAPTAIN ADRIATIC had become restless in the barriers as a result of SNAKE FARLEY being fractious. In the circumstances stewards took no action against those runners. Trainer M. Jokic was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to the mare being permitted to race again. Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all bets made on CAPTAIN ADRIATIC, SNAKE FARLEY and LIKER be refunded and that the following deductions apply: > 522 in the dollar for the win for the winner, CLAPPERS> 355 in the dollar for the place for the winner, CLAPPERS> 400 in the dollar for the place for second, FASSLER> 355 in the dollar for the place for third, SAMUEL JAMES FASSLER - Began awkwardly. SHORTSPRESSO - Began awkwardly. CLAPPERS - Raced wide for the majority of the race. SMOOCH - Finished tailed off. Examined by the veterinary surgeon who said that the mare had sustained minor lacerations to both hind legs. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that the horse's nominations will be refused at TAB meetings until such time as it improves its performances at country meetings. RACE 4: MM ELECTRICAL CQ RESCUE CLASSIC NQ DERBY 3 & 4YO BENCHMARK 70 HHCAP 1800MM UNCANNY REASON - Slow to begin. Commenced to over-race near the 1200m and shifted wider to improve before obtaining the lead near the 1000m. DRAGON ROCKET - Slow to begin. Over-raced for a short distance near the 1200m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. FRISKIER - Over-raced for a short distance near the 1200m. DONAVIA - Over-raced in the early stages. RACE 5: ISO PLUGS & SOCKETS RATINGS BAND 0 50 HHCAP 1560M (1)) Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey C. McIver, the rider of CHAIN THE GATE which finished 4th, against LAMERICAN (Jockey J. Stanley) being declared 3rd, alleging interference near the 100m. After taking evidence from the parties involved, viewing the patrol films and taking into account their own observations, stewards established that at about the 100m LAMERICAN shifted out and bumped CHAIN THE GATE, which became unbalanced. In considering the evidence and taking into account the margin between the two horses at the finish stewards upheld the objection and amended the placings to read MIM'S POET 1st, TICKETS TO RIDE 2nd,, CHAIN THE GATE 3rd, and LAMERICAN 4th. GENERAL BEERS - Slow to begin. BEYOND - Began awkwardly and shifted out, tightening runners to its outside. LADIES WHO LUNCH - Began awkwardly and shifted inwards, tightening runners to its inside. Over-raced in the early stages. WHILE WE CAN - Tightened for room at the start. STRADA DELLA - Tightened for room at the start. CHAIN THE GATE - Tightened for room at the start. MIM'S POET > A pre-race veterinary examination of the mare which had minor lacerations to its off hind hock suffered on rout to the course, cleared the horse to start. Raced wide for the majority of the race. RACE 6: ISO PLUGS & SOCKETS RATINGS BAND 0 50 HHCAP 1560M (2) PLAIN 'N' SIMPLE - Began awkwardly. CRIMSON GOD - Slow to begin. On returning to scale Jockey A.Butler explained that the gelding never travelled comfortably throughout the race and was very disappointing. Trainer T. Cook advised the stewards that in his opinion the horse had come to the end of its preparation and will now be spelled. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. ALL KOOL - A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had damaged its off fore suspensory ligament. Trainer M. Jokic advised stewards that it is now his intention that the mare be retired from racing. Nonetheless, he was informed that he must provide a full veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again.> RACE 7: PRYSMIAN GROUP AUSSIE MADE CABLES BENCHMARK 65 HHCAP 1300M UNDER THE WEATHER - Made contact with the running rail during its preliminary and underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the field. FRENCH SONG - Due to an incident in the tie-up stalls, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the field. BELORUM - Slow to begin. Approaching the 600m improved onto heels and was steadied. Raced wide for the majority of the event. ANOTHER LISTING - Slow to begin and raced wide for the majority of the race. Raced in restricted room and bumped leaving the 200m. BOYS FROM THE BUSH - Over-raced in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was making an unusual respiratory noise revealed it to have a wind problem. Trainer J. Manzelmann said that it is his intention that the horse be retired from racing. Nonetheless, he was advised that should the gelding return to racing, he must furnish the results of an endoscopic examination and trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again.
