QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MORVEN RACE CLUB MORVEN – SATURDAY, 5 AUGUST 2023 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SAND RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – E. TicknerStewards – W. GlassClerk of Scales – Stewards Judge – B. LyonsVeterinarian – Dr T. McClymontSwab Attendants – Dr T. McClymontStarter – S. Brassington GENERAL Race 3, No. 7 PHEEBLE’S SPIRIT – As no other rider was available, Stewards permitted Rider D. Graham to ride 3kg over the allotted weight of 56kg. Race 1:LANDSBOROUGH BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP (1000m) KARARA LAD – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. BARTOS – Rounding the home turn became momentarily unbalanced when shifted to the inside of the heels of SAVVY SONG. SAVVY SONG – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MAC’S BOY – Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. CORBIN – Slow to begin. Raced wide and without cover from the 800m. HARAMAIN – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 2: KILLARNEY MAIDEN PLATE (1200m) LORD LOBSTER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MISTER SWEET – Slow to begin. READY MADE- Laid in under pressure in the home straight, bumped in the early part of the home straight with SUMMER SIZZLING. SUMMER SIZZLING – Raced tight with READY MADE in the home straight and bumped. Rider D. Graham reported that her saddle slipped over the concluding stages. METHIL – Raced in restricted room between SUMMER SIZZLING and READY MADE approaching the 600m. Apprentice S. McCann stated that the mare resented racing in restricted room and the track surface. She further added that after receiving pressure from SUMMER SIZZLING approaching the 600m, the mare commenced to give ground quickly and proved disappointing when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor lacerations to the off-hindleg consistent with being galloped on. PICCOLO NIKKI – Hung-out rounding the home turn. Race 3: NEBINE QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE (1200m) BIONIC – Began only fairly. Tailed the field throughout. Apprentice S. McCann state the gelding didn’t handle the track conditions. ROYO – Inside the 200m, momentarily inconvenienced and taken outside of the heels of EIL ‘N’ ALL when that runner was obliged to restrain. ZA HIDDEN DRAGON – Obliged to steady approaching the 800m when EIL ‘N’ ALL shifted ground to obtain a position closer to the running rail and slackened the pace. Raced keenly for several strides thereafter. Inside the 200m, rolled in, directing EIL ’N’ ALL onto the heels of KAZZA’S JET. Apprentice T. Townsend was advised to exercise greater care. EIL ‘N’ ALL – Approaching the 800m, shifted in abruptly towards the running rail before slackening the pace abruptly inconveniencing REMLAP’S LASS and ZA HIDDEN DRAGON. Apprentice J. Golden was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. Hung-out from the 400m and rounding the home-turn, becoming very unbalanced when bumping with KAZZA’S JET. Inside the 200m, was inconvenienced and obliged to restrain when placed awkwardly on the heels of KAZZA’S JET. KAZZA’S JET – Began only fairly. Bumped with EIL ‘N’ ALL rounding the home-turn. Inside the 200m, shifted out placing EIL ‘N’ ALL awkwardly on heels and obliging that runner to restrain. Apprentice E. Pomfrett was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding and advised she must stop riding and straighten her mounts when they commence to shift ground. PHEEBLE’S SPIRIT – Performed below expectations. Rider D. Graham stated the mare resented the track conditions and subsequently did not travel throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. REMLAP’S LASS – Inconvenienced approaching the 900m when EIL ‘N’ ALL shifted ground to obtain a position closer to the running rail, directing ZA HIDDEN DRAGON inwards and subsequently lost ground. Race 4: WARREGO OPEN HANDICAP (1200m) HIGH COST – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to start. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. COYNES ROAD – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. THE GENERAL – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. TANGO TINO – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 5: OLD CHARLEVILLE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (1400m) AURIC GOLD – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to start. IMPACTFUL – Began awkwardly and tightened between runners shortly after the start. TELL THE WORLD – Stood flat-footed as the start was effected. Apprentice D. Bennett stated that as a consequence of the poor start, the gelding’s winning chances were prejudiced.
