QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MAREEBA TURF CLUB - SATURDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER 2016 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – FIRM 2 RAIL – IN TRUE POSITION OFFICIALSChairman of Stewards – P LaneStewards – H Warren, F MallyonStarter – R GardinerClerk of Scales – B GrayJudge – I AdcockVeterinarian – E MaloneySwab Attendant – P Williams Race 1: Frank Vitale Memorial QTIS Maiden Plate 900 metres:1st – EILEEN ANNIE 2nd – HEART OF TIER 3rd – MISS SONIC BOOM 4th – ONYA MISS ONYA MISS which was fractious in the float, in transit to the race meeting, dislodging a hind plate, was inspected by the veterinarian upon arrival on course was passed fit to start. Stewards acting under the provisions of AR.141A.(1) permitted the removal of the other hind plate and the mare raced barefooted behind. HEART OF TIER – Was fractious in the barriers. Was inclined to over-race in the middle stages. Hung out rounding the home turn. LA JESSIANNE – Was slowly away. ZARA LOUISE – Was slowly into stride. LADY DRUMMER – Was inclined to race ungenerously for a short distance near the 800 metres when crossed by another runner. Race 2: Graham Hotel Bracelet Benchmark 65 Handicap 1010 metres:1st – MINNIE STREET 2nd – MASTER DANNY 3rd – ROBBERS ROOST 4th – LADY FOXY MASTER DANNY – was slowly away. FOUR JAYS – Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. Was inclined to race ungenerously for some distance after improving onto heels near the 700 metres. Was held up for clear running on several occasions in the home straight. MINNIE STREET - Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. Was inclined to race ungenerously in the early stages. Hung out near the 600 metres taking runners to its ouside wider on the track. Was inclined to shift in under presuure down the running. App. Ms. E Cass was cautioned by Stewards in relation to making a celebratory gesture after passing the winning post. ROBBERS ROOST – Was inclined to over-race in the early stages. EREBUS – Was taken wide at the 600 metres by another runner which was inclined to hang out. KISSER - Was taken wide at the 600 metres by another runner which was inclined to hang out. Race 3: Airfirst Pty Ltd Class B Handicap 1123 metres:1st – FLYING ONE MORE 2nd – PUB THUG 3rd – KAP IT OFF 4th – JOHNNY FIX IT PUB THUG was inspected and cleared to start by the veterinarian prior to loading into the barriers. JOHNNY FIX IT - Bumped with another runner on jumping. WILD DIVA - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Was caught wide without cover in the middle stages OAKFIELD AVENGER – Was inclined to hang out passing the 1000 metres inconveniencing another runner. I’M RURRBELLIOUS – Was inconvenienced near the 1000 metres by another runner which was inclined to hang out. Had to be restrained after improving onto heels near the 600 metres. KAP IT OFF – Was inclined to shift out under pressure approaching the winning post. SHE’S WANTED – Was caught wide without cover throughout. Race 4: Pumping, Irrigation & Machinery Services Benchmark 55 Handicap 1210 metres: 1st – JUMBO RUMBO 2nd – AIR OF HEAVEN 3rd – HONEST FRIEND 4th – DAZZLING LADY AIR OF HEAVEN – Jumped in at the start making heavy contact with another runner. HONEST FRIEND – Was bumped heavily by another runner which jumped in at the start. DAZZLING LADY – Was caught wide without cover in the middle stages. Stewards questioned Jockey P Cullen in relation to his riding of the gelding VEE FORCE. Jockey Cullen advised that his instructions were to settle the gelding back in the field in the early stages and then commence a run near the 600 metres. After settling in 2nd last position Jockey Cullen was forced to restrain the gelding off the heels of TOP BUTTON near the 1000 metres. When attempting to improve into the race near the 600 metres VEE FORCE which was positioned to the inside of ARCANUS was again restrained off heels, and raced in restricted room to the inside of ARCANUS to the home turn, resulting in VEE FORCE being unable to sprint with ARCANUS when that horse commenced its run. Jockey Cullen said that in his opinion VEE FORCE had failed to handle the tight turning track and would be better suited on a larger circuit. Stewards, after confirming the riding instructions with Trainer Mr. G Baker, noted Jockey Cullen’s explanation. Race 5: MSF SUGAR Mareeba Cup Benchmark 65 Handicap 1500 metres:1st – BO ROSSA 2nd – RISE TO THE TOP 3rd – COUTAINVILLE 4th – LIL’ RED MONKEY LIL’ RED MONKEY – Was fractious in the barriers. KAMARAH - Was fractious in the barriers. Was slowly into stride after beginning awkwardly. ASSERTIVE LOVE – Was inconvenienced when awkwardly placed inside heels near the 1300 metres. BO ROSSA – Shifted out marginally to obtain clear running near the 150 metres bumping with another runner. COUTAINVILLE – Near the 150 metres was bumped by another runner. CASHED UP BULLY – Was caught wide without cover for the majority.
