QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS’ REPORT MAREEBA TURF CLUB – SATURDAY, 26 DECEMBER 2017 WEATHER – FINE, TRACK RATING – FIRM 2, RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Stewards – A. Gardner RACE 1: MAREEBA MAZDA BM65 H’cap 900m CHECKOUT ME TRAVLA – Slow to begin. ROAD FOX – Hung out in the early stages. Race wide for the majority. CRAIGLEE ALDI – Jockey W. D’Avila reported at scale that the gelding raced ungenerously for the majority of the race. He also stated that in his opinion the gelding would benefit from an increase in distance from today’s event after finishing strongly over the concluding stages. ARKIBOUM – Had to be steadied approaching the 600m to avoid the heels of another runner. NO BITING – Shifted inwards approaching the 600m when not fully clear of ARKIBOUM resulting in that runner having to be restrained. Jockey S. Kaya was reprimanded under the provisions of AR137(a) for careless riding. SUCKER – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a superficial laceration to the near fore leg. RACE 2: COLOUR STUDIO QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 3YO & UP 1010m IN BARBADOUS – Delayed the start when proving difficult to load. Had to be steadied when racing ungenerously near the 550m. Trainer A. Maliff was advised a warning would be placed on the mares barrier manners. ROTHESAY MAGIC – Slow to begin. MICK’S DREAM – Shortly after the start shifted inwards abruptly despite the efforts of its rider (J Lambie) hampering a number of runners to its inside. Near the 550m again shifted in despite the efforts of its rider inconveniencing IN BARBADOS, which was racing keenly at that stage, and GREEK ROSE, which was racing ungenerously. Trainer T. Rowe was advised a warning would be placed the geldings racing manners.AMBITIOUS DREAM - Had to be restrained shortly after the start when another runner shifted in abruptly. ROTHSTOCK’N’BELLA - Had to be restrained shortly after the start when another runner shifted in abruptly. MY BOY ALEX - Had to be restrained shortly after the start when another runner shifted in abruptly. WISTARI - Had to be restrained shortly after the start when another runner shifted in abruptly. ELECTRIC SHOCK - Had to be restrained shortly after the start when another runner shifted in abruptly. GREEK ROSE – Had to be restrained shortly after the start when another runner shifted in abruptly. Had to be restrained again near the 550m when improving onto heels while racing ungenerously. RACE 3: MAREEBA ACCOUNTING & TAX / STEVE CORDENOS REAL ESTATE CLASS B H’cap 1123m CANON KING – Slow to begin. Wide for the majority of the event. SUPAMETEOR – Slow to begin. Wide in the early stages when being ridden before settling midfield. RACE 4: GRAHAM HOTEL BRACELET BM60 H’cap 1210M Stewards delayed the declaration of correct weight to afford the rider of 4th placegetter Jockey B. Thomson (BON TEMPS) and the rider of 5th placegetter App N. Nelson (JUMBO RUMBO) an opportunity to view the photo finish. Once both riders and stewards agreed upon the judges placings correct weight was given. TAP THE HILL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. REGAL ROTH – Raced wide for the majority. METAZOA – Slow to begin. Became momentarily unbalanced near the 1000m when taking an awkward stride. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey W. D’Avila reported that in his opinion he felt the distance of today’s race was short of the mare’s best and it would be improved when racing over further ground. RACE 5: LANGELEY PLUMBING MAREEBA CUP BM65 H’cap 1500m Stewards delayed the declaration of correct weight to afford Trainer S. Massingham (JIMMY HOFFA) the opportunity to view the photo finish. Once both trainer and stewards agreed upon the judges placings correct weight was given. OUR SINGLE DOUBT – Slow into stride. THE BEE’S KNEES – Slow into stride. PHANTOM SOX – When questioned regarding todays performance Jockey C. Jokic stated that the gelding was stepping up in distance considerably and had failed to respond when asked for an effort over the concluding stages. TRY BEFORE DUBAI – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have superficial lacerations to the off hind leg.
