Race Day Stewards’ Report Mareeba ThoroughbredsDate: Thursday 26th December, 2019Weather: OvercastTrack: Good (3)Rail: In True Position Stewards Panel: P Gillard, D LaneOfficials: R Gardner (Starter), I Adcock (Judge), B Gray (Clerk of Scales), E Maloney (Veterinarian), P Charters (Sample Collection Officer)GENERAL Following Race 1, and due to threatening severe weather conditions Stewards, in consultation with Club Officials, brought forward starting times for all races on today’s programme. Race 1 – MAXIMUM PEST CONTROL CLASS B HANDICAP 1010m Indelicacy – Connections advised that, should circumstances permit, an attempt would be made to have the mare ridden in a forward position in running today. Began very awkwardly losing ground and raced at the rear of the field throughout. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the presence of blood in 1 nostril. Trainer T. Rowe advised Stewards it is now the intention to retire the mare from racing. Nonetheless, they were advised that, should circumstances change, Indelicacy would be required to complete a satisfactory gallop of 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to again being permitted to start in a race. City Secrets – Raced wide in the early stages. Compounded in the home straight. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 2 – MAREEBA SHEDS & GAS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1010m High Dive – Slow to begin.Infinite Advantage – Slow to begin. Race 3 – MAREEBA MAZDA & MITSUBISHI QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1123m Our Danny Boy – The gelding, which was resuming after a prolonged absence from racing, underwent a Veterinary inspection and was cleared to start. Mission Road – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Filly Slater – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Lucky Angus - Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 4 –AMAROO ESTATE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1210m Written Image – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Elite Jet - Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 5 – MAREEBA LEAGUES CLUB RATINGS BAND 0-50 HANDICAP 1500m Try Before Dubai – Slow to begin. Wakool – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
