Gillard Steward – S. Coulthard Clerk of Scales – B. Gray Judge – A. Ballard Veterinarian – Dr E. Maloney Swab Attendants – Dr E. Maloney Starter – B. Brady Race 1: PICCONES IGA BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 900 Metres FLUTTERING – Slow into stride. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. KEYS PLEASE – As jockey S. Sheargold was not riding at today’s meeting he was replaced by jockey B. Thomson. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. OCTOBER STORM – Had difficulties obtaining clear running in the home straight. Race 2: BELLARINE PAINTING MAIDEN PLATE – 900 Metres ALWAYS THE LADY – JockeyA. Thomson was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR190(3) it that she was unable to make the allotted weight and was replaced by jockey R. Shred. Raced wide for the majority of the race. LITTLE RED PEPPER – Fractious in the barriers. Was inconvenienced near the 400 metres when JAY KAY CEE lost ground. WHISPERING MOSS – Slow to begin. Reluctant to stretch out in the early and middle stages. Trainer P. Rowe advised he would experiment with gear changes prior to its next start. BALLROOM BOSS – Slow to begin. Raced very wide rounding the home turn. PRINCE SHUVEE – Raced greenly for a short distance in the early part of the home straight. JAY KAY CEE – Commenced to lose ground leaving the 400 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer N. Nelson was advised a veterinary certificate of soundness must be provided prior to it racing or trialling again. NANNA KNUCKEY – Raced wide for the majority of the race. PRINCESS GLEE – Rider accidently dropped his whip approaching the winning post. TOP CEEDEE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 3: GRAHAM HOTEL 2022 BATTLE OF THE BUSH MAREEBA QUALIFIER OPEN QTIS PLATE – 1123 Metres FANX – Delayed the start after refusing to load and was declared a late scratching at 2.38 pm. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested in FANX were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 13 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 16 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets made prior to 2.38pm. HARD YAGA – Began awkwardly and shifted inwards to be slightly inside the line of the running rail having to restrained and lose ground near the 1000 metres when racing in restricted room to the inside of DANNI’S RULER. DANNI'S RULER – Began awkwardly and shifted inwards crowding HARD YAGA and continued to crowd that runner approaching the 1000 metres. Rider S. Wilson was advised to show greater care. MY BEST EFFORT – Hady a tendency to lay in approaching the 1000 metres and was bumped by HIT SNOOZE and shifted in marginally. HIT SNOOZE – Shifted in bumping MY BEST EFFORT near the 1000 metres. Rider L. Morrison was advised to show great care. NARDA SHAR – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. Race 4: KBAM JUMP & RUN CLASS B HANDICAP – 1210 Metres MASARED – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages and as a result raced three wide without cover until improving forward to race outside the leader near the 600 metres. Race 5: BROWN BROS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1500 Metres DAY TO FAVOUR – JockeyA. Thomson was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR190(3) in that she was unable to make the allotted weight and was replaced by jockey B, Thomson. OWN SWEET WAY (NZ) – Slow to begin.Bumped near the 800 metres. STAR INES – Slow to begin. Rider J. Baker advised stewards on returning to scale the gelding put in an awkward stride near the 800 metres and became unbalanced, shifted out bumping OWN SWEET WAY. PONDEROSO – Blundered near the 400 metres. Rider L. Morrisonadvised stewards on returning to scale the gelding felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages.
