Race 1: Benchmark 60 Handicap 1450 metres:

Race 2: Class B Handicap 900 metres:
1st – DUKE’S DELIGHT 2nd – I WANT CANDY 3rd – SPURS ON 4th – HONEY CAT

HAPPY TO BE HERE – Bumped by another runner at the start.

HONEY CAT – Bumped at the start.

AERO FAST – Raced wide without cover throughout.

READY TO DAZZLE – Raced wide without cover throughout.

DUKE’S DELIGHT – Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.

Race 3: Class 3 Plate 1100 metres:
1st – BUSH LAWYER 2nd – YANCHA BOY 3rd – NO DELAY 4th – FLAMINGO ROSE

FOLLOW THE DREAM was a late scratching at 3.08pm after the mare refused to load into the barriers. When correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets placed on FOLLOW THE DREAM be refunded in full and all other successful bets made on the race prior to 3.08pm be subject to the following deductions of 62c win and 40c place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainer Mr K Krogh was advised the mare would be required to successfully complete one trial prior to again starting in a race.

FLAMINGO ROSE – Stumbled as the start was effected. Raced wide without cover throughout.

OLE PABLO – Began awkwardly with it’s head in the air.

BUSH LAWYER – When questioned regarding the improved performance Jockey D Ballard explained that the gelding benefited from today’s favourable barrier and was then able to dictate terms from the front. He added the gelding also derived benefit from the addition of blinkers. Stewards accepted the explanation.

Race 4: Ratings Band 0-45 Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – DIURNAL TIGER 2nd – ZATSACAT 3rd – LITTLE VICTORIES 4th – FIRST PAIGE

FIRST PAIGE – Slow to muster early speed.

LITTLE VICTORIES – Raced wide without cover throughout.

ZATSACAT – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

Race 5: Coppermarket Open Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – GOLDEN METEOR 2nd – KAYAN 3rd – COURT ACTION 4th – CARRY ME

Trainer Mr J Bawden was reprimanded under LR67 for failing to declare a rider for CARRY ME by the required time.

KAYAN – Bumped at the start.

COURT ACTION – Bumped at the start.

IRON METEORITE – Crowded for room shortly after the start. Shifted wider on the track and raced wide throughout. Following the disappointing performance Trainer Mr J Morris undertook to report back to Stewards in the subsequent days in regards to the gelding’s immediate racing future.

DARCEY – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Resented the kickback.

CARRY ME – When questioned regarding his riding over the concluding stages Jockey A Spradau advised Stewards he rode his mount along from the start in order to comply with the gelding’s established racing pattern and after obtaining a forward position his mount commenced to lose ground from the 300 metres. He added that the gelding weakened noticeably over the final 100 metres therefore he desisted from placing the gelding under any undue pressure. In accepting Jockey Spradau’s explanation Stewards did however remind him of his obligation to ride his mounts out fully to the finish.
