BEAUDRAGON – Jockey T Chambers requested to view the available patrol footage of the start to ascertain whether she could make application to the Stewards to be declared a non-runner. After viewing the footage Jockey Chambers refrained from lodging that request. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance Jockey Chambers stated that after rearing in the gates prior to the start and then beginning awkwardly the gelding was inclined to hang in throughout the early stages. Jockey Chambers added that after being crossed near the 600 metres, when she found herself racing through the kickback the gelding lost ground. In her opinion the horse did not handle todays heavier track conditions after it had received good rainfall in the week prior. Stewards noted this explanation. Trainer Mr J Morris questioned Stewards as to why the horse did not have a tail as per the Starters Report. Stewards advised Mr Morris that immediately prior to the start Jockey Chambers declined this assistance. Mr Morris told Stewards he believes this may have impacted the horse’s performance today, in particular its starting effort.
