Stewards accepted the following overweight’s:

Race 1: CAVA BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1000m
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing jockey J. Baker, rider of MISHANI HURRICANE and Stewards to view the start of the event. After doing so it was established that MISHANI HURRICANE became fractious in the barriers and reared and as a result lost considerable ground. As the cause of MISHANI HURRICANE missing the start was due to its own barrier manners, correct weight was subsequently declared on the semaphored placings. Trainer J. Bawden was advised the gelding must trial satisfactorily prior to racing again.
 
KARBORS – Bumped on jumping away and as a result was carried out onto CRAIGLEA .
ALTONA.

SCARPA – Shifted out on jumping away and bumped with KARBORS who was then carried out onto CRAIGLEA ALTONA. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

MILLVALE – A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Bumped by KARBORS on jumping away.

MISHANI HURRICANE – Became fractious in the barriers and reared on jumping away and as a result lost considerable ground. Trainer J. Bawden was advised that the gelding must now complete an official trial or jumpout satisfactorily prior to racing again.

MAKUBA – Raced wide without cover for the majority. Jockey K. Ballard dropped his whip in the vicinity of the 400m.

ARCING HARD - Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
 
Race 2: COUNTRY STAMPEDE QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP 1000m
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow a representative for Trainer T. Parry to view the photo finish for 1st place. Once satisfied, correct weight was declared on the Judge’s semaphored numbers.
 
FAB’S COWBOY – Raced wide for the majority.
 
PRIMAL SCREAM – declared a late scratching at 2:20PM on veterinary advice. Stewards ordered that all bets on PRIMAL SCREAM be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st REBEL SALUTE 9c win, 10c place
2nd WICKED WIKI 10c place
3rd NOT ANOTHER REIBY 10c place
 
Trainer S. Royes was advised PRIMAL SCREAM will need a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
THERESABEARINTHERE – Stewards permitted jockey J. Baker to ride +2kg over the allocated weight due to no other rider being available.
 
NOT ANOTHER REIBY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SEDONA – Jockey N.Yadi was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.
 
SHIVKANI – Began awkwardly and became momentarily unbalanced, losing ground. Raced wide for the majority.

Race 3: CAVA BUILDING RATINGS BAND 0-55 Handicap 1450m
 
 
GREAT BOULDER – Severely blundered upon jumping, momentarily unbalancing its rider. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
METAL BAR – Stewards permitted jockey D. Ballard to ride +0.5kg over the allocated weight due no other rider being available. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.Jockey D. Ballard was fined $200 pursuant AR 190(a) for aceppting a ride when overweight.
 
JAKAZONE – Dipped on jumping away.
 
STAR OF LEON – Raced wide for the majority.
 
FIELDS OF RED – Bumped with EXALTED on jumping. Jockey J. Baker was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted.
 
JUST SIZZLING – Upon reporting to scale, apprentice jockey T. Lesight stated that he elected to ride his mount conservatively early, as the gelding can have a tendancy to over-race. When asked, the connections of JUST SIZZLING confirmed the instructions.
 
STROKE OF MAGIC– declared a late scratching at 3:27PM for refusing to load. Stewards ordered that all bets on STROKE OF MAGIC be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st METAL BAR 4c win, 5c place
2nd JAKAZONE 5c place
3rd JUST SIZZLING 5c place
 
Trainer J. Bawden was advised that STROKE OF MAGIC must now complete an official trial or jumpout satisfactorily prior to racing again.
 
EXALTED – Bumped with FIELDS OF RED on jumping.
 
 
Race 4: CAVA HYDRAULICS COUNTRY CUPS CHALENGE QUALIFIER/SPRING CUP OPEN Handicap 1450m
ANCIENT ECHOES – A post race veterinary examination revealed
 
VIGOROUS FLOW – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 5: CAVA COUNTRY LORD DERBY STAKES QTIS Class 3 Plate 1200m
 
CUBAN AFFAIR – A post race examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
DEVIL – Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
EYE SHOOT TO WIN – Stewards permitted jockey D. Ballard to ride +0.5kg over the allotted weight due no other rider being available. Jockey D. Ballard was fined $200 pursuant AR 190(a) for aceppting a ride when overweight. Began awkwardly.
 
FAR REACHING – In the vicinity of the 200m, was obliged to steady and made contact with the inside running rail when CAMPEEDO was taken in by DEVIL who was hanging in. Stewards severely reprimanded jockey N. Yadi, the rider of DEVIL, pursuant to AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift ground under riding.
 
LAST DESCEND – Raced wide for the majority.
 
CAMPEEDO – In the vicinity of the 200m was taken in by DEVIL who was hanging in. Apprentice jockey L. Guernier was reminded of her obligations to keep her mount straight in similar circumstances.
 
BELLEOFTHEHUNTER – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.
 
BRIDEZILLA – Raced wide for the majority.
