GENERAL

All scratchings for no available rider are shown below in the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: MAIDEN Plate 1100M

LORD KENNY – Began awkwardly.

BETHEHORSE – After the completion of the event and when pulling up, stumbled and dislodged its rider before falling onto Jockey J. Hoopert. Jockey J. Hoopert was attended to by QAS staff and was experiencing rib pain before being transported to hospital for further observations. A veterinary examination of BETHEHORSE revealed no abnormalities.

JIG TIME GAL – Proved difficult to load. Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping the hindquarters of ROCKBARTON RACER losing ground.

ROCKBARTON RACER – Bumped on jumping.

Race 2: VALE LYNDA RYAN BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1000M

JUST STOP IT – Passing the 700 metres, JUST STOP IT commenced to hang out losing considerable ground up to a point passing the 400 metres.  When questioned regarding the matter, Jockey T. Orr stated that the gelding raced tractably until reaching the first corner and then began to hang out badly, losing its position despite his efforts. Trainer T. Parry was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings’ racing manners.

WICKED WIKI – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination when racing as a 12-year-old and was cleared to race.
After the completion of the event, Apprentice Jockey M. Campbell dismounted WICKED WIKI which was showing signs of lameness. A post-race veterinary examination revealed swelling and lameness in the near fore fetlock. Trainer T. Parry advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.

RESTRICTIONS – Was declared a late scratching at 2:05pm after Jockey J. Hoopert was injured in Race 1 and no other rider was available. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on RESTRICTIONS be refunded with the following deductions to apply-

1st Place – 32 cents the win, 29 cents the place
2nd Place – 29 cents the place

HOTSTEP – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost several lengths. Trainer P. Inwood was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding.

THE LANDING – Was declared a late scratching at 2:05pm after Jockey J. Hoopert was injured in Race 1 and no other rider was available.

PARISIAN LADY – When questioned on the performance of PARISIAN LADY, apprentice Jockey T. Orr stated that the mare began to lose ground in the middle stages and could offer no real explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

FAR REACHING – Contacted the side of the barriers on jumping.

Race 4: MERRY XMAS OPEN Handicap 1450M

THE TYLER – Slow into stride.

RUSTY ROSE – Was declared a late scratching at 2:05pm after Jockey J. Hoopert was injured in Race 1 and no other rider was available.

Race 5: THANKS MEL & BARRA RATINGS BAND 0-55 Handicap 1100M

HI ZERO – Laid in over the concluding stages.

RIVER DANZKA – Raced wide throughout. Jockey N. Yadi, the rider of RIVER DANKZA which ran 5th in the event, was questioned as to the reason he failed to ride his mount fully to the line over the concluding stages. Jockey Yadi advised that RIVER DANKZA was making a respiratory noise, and he eased the horse down over the concluding stages and added that he had felt the horse had swallowed its tongue. A post-race veterinary examination of RIVER DANKZ revealed a poor recovery rate, and the gelding was showing signs of distress. Trainer P. Inwood reported to Stewards that this was the first occasion in several starts that RIVER DANZKA has raced without a tongue tie and that he would consider re-applying it again to the horse’s gear. Trainer Inwood was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.

GOOD KITTY – Was declared a late scratching at 2:05pm after Jockey J. Hoopert was injured in Race 1 and no other rider was available.
