SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Bundaberg 29th July 2023
Race 5 Apprentice L Sykes (MEDIA HYPE) was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying his whip 8 times prior to the 100m, 3 times more than permitted.
 
GENERAL

Race 1: LMS PEST SERVICES / MAL WYTON TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1000 metres
 
There was a slight delay to correct weight to allow judges time to view the available footage for the placings and margins.
 
HARALBEN – Knuckled at the start.
 
SEENUSCOMING – Slow to begin and slow into stride. Travelled wide in the middle and late stages.
 
BOSTON BELLE – Over raced in the early stages.
 
ROOTS’N’ROCKS – Slow into stride and travelled wide for the remainder of the race.
 
Race 2: PJ GARLAND & SONS / FLOORED BY RAMSAY QTIS Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
IMPENDING RAIN – Slow into stride, travelled wide for the majority and lay in over the concluding stages when put under pressure.
 
PURPLE SONG – Travelled wide for the majority with cover.
 
RUNNINSCARED – Resented the kickback in the early stages, losing contact with the main body of the field.
 
Race 3: GBA CONSULTING ENGINEERS / WYTON TRANSPORT Class B Handicap 1200 metres
 
HOT ROD JACK – Wide for the majority.
 
COOL HARRY – Wide for the majority.
 
VITAL VALENTIA – Over raced near the 1000m, resented the kickback and moved wider to avoid the kickback.
 
TAMSIN – Jockey E Bell reported the mare felt awkward from the 800m and took no competitive part in the race. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed a poor post-race recovery.
 
OUTBACK STEP – Shifted out from the 400m to obtain clear running.
 
Race 4: TROPIC PETROLEUM KEN & WIN WEDGWOOD CUP RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 Handicap 1400 metres
 
HEROISM – Awkward to begin contacting OUR SPIDER resulting in losing ground.
 
OUR SPIDER – Contacted at the start, travelled wide for the remainder.
 
ELECTRIC SPIRIT – Bumped at the start.
 
PORTABELLE – Heavily contacted at the start losing ground, then travelled wide for the remainder.
 
DEEP UNDERCOVER – Resented the kickback in running.
 
SKOOZI’S FLYER – Jumped away awkwardly contacting PORTABELLE, in turn shifting out onto ELECTRIC SPIRIT.
 
Race 5: DAVID & BEBE SECCOMBE MEMORIAL MUTTABURRA CUP OPEN Handicap 1400 metres
 
WAITAKERE – Dipped severly, losing momentum leaving the 800m.
 
THE SQUIRE – Shortly after the start bucked severely, veering to the outside of the track dislodging Jockey M Gray. M Gray attended to by ambulance officials and transported to Barcaldine observation. QAS advised they would report to stewards any anomalies. Jockey Gray’s helmet was confiscated due to his head hitting the ground.
Trainer C Dixon was advised THE SQUIRE would be stood down until a satisfactory barrier trial has been completed.
 
DARK ARCHER – Jumped outwards heavily contacting GYPSY BIKER for several strides.  
 
GYPSY BIKER – Impeded when THE SQUIRE bucked and shifted outwards losing momentum.
 
GALAPAGOS – Slow to begin, heavily impeded when THE SQUIRE bucked and shifted outwards losing considerable ground.
