QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSIONSTEWARDS REPORTNANANGO RACE CLUBSATURDAY 3rd AUGUST 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING –Good 3 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R Hanson.Stewards – J Williamson. GENERAL Stewards permitted the following overweight for today’s meeting:Race 5: C Meehan – WINSTON BLUE = +1kg (56kg). As Apprentice Jockey Z Sprie was ill and not riding at today’s meeting, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards summary. Apprentice Sprie was advised that he would require a medical certificate prior to next race riding. Race 1: COL RYAN MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000 Metres. SO EXTRA – Raced wide throughout. PAPER COWBOY – Momentarily steadied passing the 150m when SHOOT THE BOSS laid in slightly under pressure. SEA COMMITS – As Apprentice Jockey Z Sprie was ill and not riding at today’s meeting, and there were no Apprentice Jockeys available to ride SEA COMMITS in the race, Stewards approved Jockey M Savva as the replacement rider for the mare. OUTBACK PLAYBOY – Raced wide throughout. Jockey C Taylor reported that in his opinion, OUTBACK PLAYBOY was not suited by todays track conditions. MY ONE – Began awkwardly. SIDE SHOW SALLY – Slow to begin. JAIN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. SHOOT THE BOSS – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. RED GADGET – Commenced to over race approaching the 600m and had to be steadied off heels. Race 2:STARTYRE POWER KINGAROY QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 3-Y-O & Up. 1200 Metres. FLYING TO MARS – Jockey M Savva reported that the saddle slipped on the gelding, placing her at a disadvantage throughout the event. HANDSOME PRINCE – Apprentice Jockey B Moffat was issued with a reprimand pursuant to AR143(12)(c) in that he did not provide his winning rides book to stewards before weighing out. LORD EDDY – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice Jockey M Mankelow reported that LORD EDDY commenced to hang out from the 600m before being inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. LORD LOUISON – Slow to begin. Commenced to over race approaching the 1000m and shifted out to avoid heels. PLUS SIXTY ONE – Raced wide throughout. CROSS OF SCARLET – After becoming fractious in the barriers, the mare underwent a Veterinary examination and was passed suitable to start. Trainer Mr M Morrison was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the mare. Held up for clear running from the 200m to approaching the 100m before shifting in to obtain clear running. At the completion of the event, on course QAS officers examined Jockey G Walters and cleared him of any injury. DOLLY DISCO – Momentarily steadied when disappointed for a run passing the 180m, between PLUS SIXTY ONE and BOYSAREBACKINTOWN which shifted in slightly under pressure. FANCY DIAMOND (NZ) – Slow to begin. BOYSAREBACKINTOWN – Shifted in slightly under pressure passing the 180m. EMPEROR TEIO – Slow to begin. Race 3: NANANGO REAL ESTATE BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1200 Metres EMERALD'S SON – Hung out rounding the home turn and entering the straight. Shifted in approaching the 100m. Jockey H Richardson reported that the gelding was inclined to hang out during the event. ALL ABOUT LEWIS – Improved on to heels and shifted out passing the 600m. Raced wide for the remainder. ANTHROPICA – Raced wide. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ROSE ALICE – Whilst attempting to take a run to the inside of EMERALD'S SON approaching the 100m, clipped heels and blundered. At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey H Richardson pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in that after she shifted out passing the 200m and presented a run to her inside in which ROSE ALICE(C Taylor) was attempting to improve into, made insufficient effort to prevent EMERALD'S SON whilst under hard riding, from shifting in to the rightful running ofROSE ALICE approaching the 100m, which resulted in that horse clipping heels and blundering. Jockey H Richardson`s license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 10 days, commencing midnight 3/08/2024 up to and including midnight 13/8/2024. MOUNTBATTEN – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. NICHOLAS ADAM – Slow to muster speed after the start. Tailed the field and took no competitive part in the event. Race 4: GIBBARNEE LIVESTOCK BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1200 Metres. CRAIGLEA ETNA – Raced wide throughout. CONTESSA NILE – Slow to begin. Slow to muster speed. MISHANI PHAROAH – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to hang in during the early and middle stages. MISS HELMUT – Laid out on the home turn. Race 5: NATIONAL JOCKEYS CELEBRATION / J.A. LEE MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 Metres HARD LANDING – Raced wide throughout. Laid in down the home straight. DIGGITY – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. KING OF WANCHAI – On arriving at the barriers, underwent a Veterinary examination at the request of the rider and was subsequently passed suitable to start. KENNY BOY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. THORNYCROFT (NZ) – Slow to begin. Jockey M Savva reported that the saddle slipped on the gelding, placing her at a disadvantage during the event. Race 6: COMMERCIAL HOTEL NANANGO CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1600 Metres SCOTTISH PRINCE – Over raced in the early and middle stages. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, Jockey D Smith stated that it was not his intension to lead, however the gelding over-raced throughout the event despite his attempts to have his mount settle in the run. He further stated it was not his intention to establish such a margin on the field. Stewards noted the explanation. WONFORWAZZA – Began awkwardly and shifted out on jumping. Hung out in the early stages. Lost considerable ground in the middle stages. Shifted out passing the 1000m. Laid out and went wide on the home turn and entering the straight. Trainer Mr M Morrison was advised that WONFORWAZZA would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again. SARODEC – Declared a late scratching at 2.01pm at the request of the trainer. SOKUDO – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid in down the home straight. RADEGAST (NZ) – Slow to begin. WINSTON BLUE – Inconvenienced on jumping and lost ground. Race 7: HERITAGE BANK NANANGO RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP 1600 Metres ANOTHER DAZZLER – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 150m. THOUGHT CRIME (NZ) – Laid in passing the 1300m. GINASUE – Slow to begin. Shifted wider passing the 400m to improve. ALERT AND READY – Shifted wider passing the 700m to improve. CANNY BOY – Began awkwardly. A DEVIL'S CHANCE – Slow to begin. Jockey H Richardson reported that in her opinion A DEVIL'S CHANCE would be more suited to races over a longer distance.
